One idea I've been toying around with is dropping the Avatar and Wraithlord for another Falcon. I like the Wraithlord and Avatar as fire magnets (when it works) or as close combat gurus (when fire magnet doesn't work) and already have trouble hiding my skimmers as it is. But they can't shoot down all of 'em can they?

Any advice is appreciated.

I'd definately recommend you drop the Wraithlord and Avatar, they are so slow a canny opponent will recognise there is no point targeting them until he is finished with the Falcons.

I'd also drop your Fire Dragons to 6 and put them in a Falcon instead. If they can't kill what they are shooting at with six shots, they probably won't with 10.

Swap the Avatar for a farseer with fortune and put him with those Scorpions (or possibly 2 and do the same with the Banshees :)). With the points you've saved you can have another big close combat aspect squad.

I'd also try and use any spare points for some Starcannon Vypers. Having even more armoured units lying about will give your enemy a real headache. Try and concentrate to kill the heavily Armoured stuff, or dilute his anti-tank fire further by trying to knock down those pesky Vypers (whose Starcannon should be hurting him).

Anyway, that's my $0.02.

Spiders are great but you dont really need 2 big squads of them. IMO they should be 5 or 6 strong. If you really want big squads get an exarch with withdraw. All it would take is one bodged jump pack roll and you would be handing over a very expensive unit on a silver plate. at least withdraw gives them a chance of escape.

Personally i would keep the avatar but thats just because i love the model and it fits with biel tan so well. From a tactical perspective a farseer would be more helpful, fitted out as Addoran suggested.

If you have got the points i would upgrade the falcons to have shuriken cannons. extra s6 shots are nothing to sniff at. However this is far from urgent.

The wraithlord is unneeded. If it is shot instead of the serpents then either your opponant isnt concintrating or is new to the game. either way you shouldnt have a prob beating them anyway! Vypers with starcannons could do the same job as a distracting unit but will still prove useful if they are ignored.

The fire dragons should do fine 10 strong. In my experience they do well like this although if they are going to be used for tank hunting only you could drop a few. You have done the right thing in not getting an exarch for the squad as they are not very useful unless the dragons need more power but you cant buy more squad members because of riding in a falcon.

I don't really plan on using the Dragons to tank hunt, they're my preference for taking out things like Termies and Broadsides. Tank hunting's just an option.

With the spiders, I could break 'em down into units of 6, 6, and 5. I might do that. It'd give me all my troops choices filled, and as was mentioned prevent them from being such a large chunk of VP if they do get caught in hand to hand. However, those numbers aren't nearly as good for moral so I'll wait and see.

ditch the avatar and WL. too slow.
definitely break down the spiders... change at least the scorps WS to
WS w/TL Starcannons, Spirit Stones, Shurikannon as the Wave Serpent should help a squad accomplish its task not just haul arse.
You might not want that many spiders (17 total... split into two 6 man squads, get another deal of banshees or scorps... pref. scorps (stealth saves you points... a third falcon would be great. cheese, but great... (20 tank hunter krak missile shots to down 1 falcon (assuming it moved over 6", so they would hafta field a crapload of anti-tank to leave you falconless)

you only have one bright lance now, but have 3 tank-busting units. Actually, you Scorpions might be better at taking out tanks, as their haywires aren't expected compared to the obviously anti-tank fire dragons... i left second HQ and 3rd HS choices open to preference, this list is a solid core of greatness. Definitely want to add more shooty units if you get the chanced... as all but you falcons are 12" range or less (not counting WS)

good list, but I would put the dragons in falcons and take out your lord and avatar. Also put the seer in with the banshees, also I would get the scorpions out of the WS and stealth them so they can take some punishment off of the other vehicles. Also vypers are a great idea. And reapers would be nice. Good luck

~ Give the Falcons shuri-cannons (upgrade shuri-cats) to maximise their effectiveness if you can spare points, it can make a difference.

~ Drop the Fire Dragon squad down to six (inc. Exarch), ride them in one of the Falcons

~ Add 5x Guardians and keep the Wave Serpeant for them (just for the tank)

Hope that helped
