Mixing Mortals/Beasts

Hi folks,

I'm not sure about two things when matching armys:

1. I'm planning to take a Beastlord, a Bray-Shaman, an Exalted Champion and an Aspiring Champion as Army-Standard-Bearer. Is this possible?

2. If so, do the mortal heros count only as heros or as elite as well?

3. Do I get this right? If taking a Shaggoth-Champion, he always is my general, when not taking mortals Heros due to the highest Ld? Therefore Gorherds may not ambush?

Thx,

Lion

1st: Yes, that is possible. Your General will be either the Beastlord or the Exalted Champion. If you choose the Beastlord, Beasts are Core and Mortals Special (You are also forbidden from taking a Hellcannon but can Ambush). If you choose the Exalted Champion, Mortals Core, Beasts Spec, no Ambush. can take Hellcannon.

2. Only as characters, they do not consume any Special or Rare choices.

3. Correct.

Characters only take up Lord and Hero slots, unless it says somewhere that they 'also use up an additional *whatever* slot'. That whatever could be another hero slot (which is usually the case when you upgrade the character to ride a monstrous mount), or it could be a special or rare slot (like the Shaggoth champion).

As Teron said, correct. Just remember that the general of your army will always be the character with the highest leadership. But if you have two or more characters, all with the highest leadership, you can choose who will be general (but you probably already knew that!). So if you wanted an army to contain a Shaggoth Champion (a beasts general), but you wanted it to be a mortal army, you'd have to take a Lord of Chaos as well (meaning you'd need to play at least a 3000pt game).
As for Ambushing, units can only ambush when the army is led by a general who carries a Brayhorn, and I think only Beastlords, Wargors, Great Bray Shamans and Bray Shamans have those (plus the beasts special characters of course).
