Hey all,

I've created my own colour scheme but I've had a good think about it and think it needs to be slightly modified. I currently like Alternate scheme 2, but then again I loved my current scheme when I first came up with it (and replaced my old scheme with it).

My current scheme:
Marine
Sergeant / Veteran

Chainmail chest eagle and trim highlighted with mithril silver. Shoulder fill is Ultramarines blue. Shining gold on the sergeant.

Alternate scheme 1:
Marine
Sergeant / Veteran

Shoulder fill is red gore. Chest eagle and trim is chainmail. Shining gold on sergeant.

Alternate scheme 2:
Marine
Sergeant / Veteran
Shoulder fill is red gore. Trim is chainmail, chest eagle is shining gold.

Thanks to the B&C SM painter for helping me create this.

Edit: Revised images for detail.

I like the second scheme, however i cant help but wounder if it need more colour to it, maybe paint one of the kneecaps red, or something along those lines.
I prefer the blue scheme, although I do agree with V3xx that you need some more colour on the models. it is by far majority black which might leave the models feeling unpainted.

Dan
Hmm the lack of colour on the model is partly from my laziness perhaps. I didn't fill in the back pack joints or the soft armour joints. Also, as my chapter is an Imperial Fists successor, my marines have their share of purity seals etc, adding more to the model.

On the black, I just love black power armour. I wouldn't consider doing anything else. I don't really like BT rules or organisation etc so that rules that out. Fluffy Raven Guard is not my playstyle either. Thanks for your input so far guys.

Edit: removed detailed image links and added to top.

Detailed and kitted "Blue" Marine
Detailed and Kitted out "red" marine
That looks much better. Grey/silver soft armour will look good against the black.

Dan
Agreed. It does look very effective.

@Draake

What's your chapter called? A new Imperial Fists successor sounds interesting.
your veteran in the second scheme looks exactly like the troops from the third..

I like the second scheme, but am thinking that a white helmet might look good for the veteran.. Or even a Red Helmet...
Black with red and gold that I don`t like that much together or I like very much together...
It can look the best or the worst (Dark Eldar Kabal of the Black heart).
The gold trim does not look good with the red inset for me. Both bright colour mixed together againts black, both will look more outstanding if they will be separated from each other.
I beleive black trim and gold kneeguard isntead of red would make a good looking marine for You.

Blue and silver are closer to each other therefore they look better for me.

Have you thought about red soft armour?
Of the three, I like your current one the best for loyalists--the red/black combo just seems too Chaotic to me.

However, I also like the across-the-board gold trim and gold helmets of Alternate 2, so basically for me the best would be Alternate 2 with blue fill.

Nice work on your reds, by the way! I'm rubbish with the B&C painter when I try for subtle colors--all of my Marines come out Slaaneshi...
Hi. There is no poll option for "none."

In my opinion, all of them are a bit "generic."

How about dark blue armor with gold shoulders and black trim?
Thanks everyone for your replies!!

I agree, it really brings a bit of life to the model.

After much deliberation (I'm terrible with names) I just called them the Black Vanguard. Maybe I will revise this at a later stage.

Yep it they're the same :p I tried white, and it doesn't suit the rest of the model. On the red - I will have trouble distinguishing the eyes from the helmet.

Hmmm I see what you mean. Sometimes when you think of something, you get caught up in the idea of it and forget to be objective and critical of it.
And for your suggestion, like this? Fremen's Marine

As above with being caught up in with a new idea. But again I agree, I do like the gold trim. It really makes my sergeants stand out at the moment from the rest of a squad, so it might be a problem if I adopt gold across the board: Gold/blue marine, Veteran. Hmmm, I really like this one! I think that sergeant might stand out after all. If it helps I used the following: blue #1a61c4, silver #918A8A, gold #D4C135, red #C41A1A.

They all look a little "Legio B&C" TBH - not a Bad Thing by any stretch of the imagination! However, I like the first option..
Yes I am considering going with the first option so far. It would save me a bit of time, but really thats not an issue. I really liked Tyjec'Amun's suggestion - gold trim all round - the problem is with the gold, while it stands out, it looks completely different on the model than it does on those B&C pics. An entire squad like that wouldn't look the deal I'm afraid. Which leaves me in a bit of a conumdrum - what to do with my Sternguard when I get around to them??

Yes :)
Hmm a dead tie with my current scheme and scheme 2. Decisions, decisions. At least I have until the end of exams to make my mind up :p Then its back to painting!
I voted for the Alternate scheme 1. I personally like the look of silver and red. I've been painting some Chaos Dwarfs and that is one of the color scheme I did some playing with.
Hey guys,

I've noticed people still voting - I would really appreciate it if you told me which one you voted for and why :)

Thanks,

Draake
