Hello, i am thinking of buying a witch hunter army and was wondering if anyone has any advice on what i should buy (I currently play as tyranids and was flicking through my friends Wh codex and noticed they looked pretty good) I am wanting to base it mostly around SoB and i dont have a great amount of money to spend (Possibly around £50 sterling once ive bought the codex) Any advice would be great. Thanks.

There's plenty of threads on this in this section of the forum... So if you read through the titles over the first few pages for appropriate threads, you'll probably find lots of advice already.

You need 2 Troops and an HQ, so generally you'll need 2 boxes of Sisters and a Canoness blister to get started. On the limited budget, why not just pop for 1 Sisters box, and don't buy anything else until that is painted - you can judge how you like painting them, and if you'll be able to "hang" with doing a whole army of them, AND you don't get a whole pile of unpainted tin laughing up at you, intimidating you.
I was looking at the thinfs to buy and thought, on my limited budget, would it not be better to get blister pack of battle sisters (can go in groups of 5-10 and come in blisters of 3 at £6 per vlister) The models work out at the same price and i can make 2 squads of 9 with the canonsess and then stretch my udget by £2 and grab some sister repentia with a misstress (I checked the thread on them and it said friendly battles are the only real good place for them, my tyranids will be my tourny army so i thought theyd be nice)
Not sure I quite follow - but keep in mind that minimum squad size is 10 for Battle Sisters.
Battle Sisters (3 random models)
The vast majority of the Orders Militant is made up of Battle Sisters. They are well disciplined and highly devoted to the Emperor. Their greatest strenght is their superb weapons and armour. A Sisters of Battle squad consists of between 5 and 10 Battle sisters. A blister contains 3 random models.

I made a mistake and was thinking maybe 2 sets of 6 for this group They are on the site and are in the troops section.
Well - that's why you need the Codex. The catalog description is WRONG! Superior plus 9-19 Sisters is the basic Troops choice.
Ah ok... i will go get the codex tommorrow
Thank you very much for the help and advice you have given me.
May i ask, Which imperial guard is it that may be included in an army of Witch hunters? is it the shock troops? And do i have to buy the Ig codex aswell or are they inluded in the witchhunters/is it allowable to just print the stats after typing them up from my friend Ig codex since im only using 1 type of troop.
Storm Troopers are part of the list - Troops, in fact, and are included in the 'Dex. You can also have Allies, which is also covered in the book, but will then need the relevant codex - IG, Daemon Hunters, or Space Marines.
Brilliant... then i will buy some Ig as troops then buy a Cannoness and some sisters repentia or something like that... am i able to take more than one ally?? E.g taking the Ig AND a space marine dreadnought? if so then Yay. If not then which is more worth taking on a lowish budget??
Which models would be used to represent celestians?
you can't have a space marine dreadnought in a WH army.

Celestians are represented by the classic sisterr fig... Only the painting can make the difference. GW never made any celestian model.

Not sure if I remember it right, but there is a difference between Ally and Inducted. Once again, read the Codex. IIRC, you can both get Inducted IG and SM (though wouldn't make much sense points-wise).

My Codex would like to disagree.

Painting can make ALL the difference, trust me. Also, don't forget converting (and for god's sake don't tell me one cannot convert Sisters - it just takes some patience and skill)

you are right, i am playing too much with sisters. :shifty:
ya can either have marines or sisters ya can't have both hence why no sane wh has a sm dread
Can inquisitorial storm troops count as compulsary troops on the force organisation chart and are they represented by normal imperial guard troops? also are there any modifications i need to do to the imperial guard to show that they are part of my Wh army?
Boy, you really oughtta go pick up that book!

Yes, Inquisitional Storm Troopers are a "Troops" choice in the army list. Typically they are represented by... well, Storm Trooper models - either Kasrkin, or the older, odd-headed funky mask S'Troopers, or even the really old plastic beret-headed ones. Regular plastic Cadians could work, but you'd have to modify the Lasguns somehow to look more Hellgun-y.

And the Kasrkin model kick butt, so not only are the WYSIWYG, but they're just so cool!

To show they're part of the WH/Inq force you can paint them in typical Inquisition colors of black, white, and Red, or add the =][= logo to the shoulder armor. Here's how I did mine, for my Daemonhunters: http://www.minivault.com/Stormtroopers.htm
the only good way to use storm trooper in wh is to make them into arbites and give em shotguns
I have looked at the codex but i was confused as it says that any imperial guard where NOT shown as compulsary troops and can only go as optional. I was wondering what inquisitorial shoick troops counted as.
