Hey guys, I am new to the warhammer universe, but absolutely love everything about it. I come from a small town where nobody else had even heard of warhammer so I haven't had much oppertunity to witness gameplay. I've created a 1000 point army list based on the Emperor's Children, any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. My goal having never played before was to create a balanced army that might not win every conflict, but would certainly stand its ground fairly well. The points aren't exact at the moment as I have misplaced my list and am doing this from memory.

HQ
Chaos Lieutenant
Mark of Slaanesh
Daemonic Resilience
Daemonic Strength
Power weapon
Bolt Pistol

Troops
Daemonnettes (x6)

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Sonic Blasters
-Plasma Gun
-Bolter
-Blastmaster
Aspiring Champion
-Sonic Blaster
-Daemonic Resilience

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Sonic Blasters
-Plasma Gun
-Bolter
-Blastmaster
Aspiring Champion
-Sonic Blaster
-Daemonic Resilence

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 flamers
-3 close combat weapon and bolt pistol
-frag grenades
Aspiring Champion
-Power Weapon
-Daemonic Strength
-Daemonic Resilience

Fast Assault
Chaos Marine Bikers (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Melta Guns bike mounted
-3 Sonic Blasters bike mounted
-5 close combat weapon
-Tank Hunters veteran skill
-Krak grenades
Aspiring Champion
-Power Weapon
-Daemonic Strength
-Daemonic Resilience
-Melta Bombs

The Intended Plan
The lieutenant joins with the close combat marines and crawls across the field towards the enemy while the two other platoons of marines lay down covering fire. The bikers get to the enemy army fast, take out heavy artillery and provide a source for daemon summoning behind enemy lines.

I look forward to hearing your comments

Cool - Nice and cheap, and still effective.

Troops
Daemonnettes (x6)
Can't go wrong with these. In 1000 points having 1 squad is perfect. If you expand to 1500+ then take another squad. But for now this is fine.

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Sonic Blasters
-Plasma Gun
-Bolter
-Blastmaster
Aspiring Champion
-Sonic Blaster
-Daemonic Resilience
I assume this squad is for shooting? If so why has your aspiring champion got Resilience? seems a waste of 10 points you could perhaps spend on something better. Can't think of anything off the top of my head, but Im sure there's something.

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Sonic Blasters
-Plasma Gun
-Bolter
-Blastmaster
Aspiring Champion
-Sonic Blaster
-Daemonic Resilence
Same deal. Resilience seems a bit pointless.

Chaos Space Marines (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 flamers
-3 close combat weapon and bolt pistol
-frag grenades
Aspiring Champion
-Power Weapon
-Daemonic Strength
-Daemonic Resilience
A close combat squad, eh? How's this for an idea: Take off the resilience from the previous 2 Aspiring Champions, and give this Aspiring Champion and your Lord Spiky Bits. Can be quite useful in some situations.

Fast Assault
Chaos Marine Bikers (x6)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-2 Melta Guns bike mounted
-3 Sonic Blasters bike mounted
-5 close combat weapon
-Tank Hunters veteran skill
-Krak grenades
Aspiring Champion
-Power Weapon
-Daemonic Strength
-Daemonic Resilience
-Melta Bombs
This is a bit of a points sink for 1000 points, but it seems like It will do some decent damage. Its your major area for anti-tank, but It might be more worth taking a dreadnought with a twin-linked Lascannon. Meltas are good, but have to get within 6" to be effective. And what if you're against a Monolith? (Ok, anyone taking a monolith in 1000 points needs a good slapping, but still...)

Hope this helped.

I would take off Resiliance on all your Aspiring Chapions as Majority rules for toughness will over ride the rules of Resiliance. Which is a waste of 40 points. Which could mean 3 extra CSM for your squad if you have 2 spare points or 2 csm and your spiky bits for you lord leaving you 2 spare points.
