Ok guys im in dire need of painting help. My models that I made for my poorly done black templars are pathetic. I did not use primer or any model protection. The paint is now chipping of of them and is starting to warp due to excessive heat coming through the window. I also dont know what dry brushing or what brushes to use at all. All I want is a paint guide describing the steps of painting a minature from start to finish. I would like to know what kind of GW brush was used for each step. I also need to know what the "inks" are that are used on a model. Im sure this topic would be of much use to any aspring painters such as myself.

The following site has a great list of painting site links, with handy descriptions so you can find just what you need:

Also, GW puts out some miniature painting books that describe all the basics fairly well; they even have one specifically for Marines.

I use Krylon Ultra-Flat Black as my primer. I can see no discernable difference between that product and the cans of GW black primer - except that GW's is 3X the cost. Likewise, I use Krylon Matte Finish as my sealant.

I have a small Templar painting article on my site, too, although it doesn't cover the basics like cleaning, filing, and priming:
