Sea Hold Idea

I've been thinking about building an army based around the idea of a dwarven sea hold. I know about Barak Varr, but I'm thinking about a smaller hold with ambitions to become like Barak Varr. The army would have lots of Warmachines and Engineers. I'm not really sure about a color scheme --any suggestions would be welcome. I'd do lots of conversion, but would want to stay away from the pirate look. I would want these guys to be a kind of Dwarf Navy. What do you think?

Naval Army

You need lots and lots of Long Drongs Pirate Slayers (rules on GW site).

And I'd say regal blue and burnished gold colour scheme for the dwarfs, gives them a nice sea theme.

I'll come up with an army list soon!

If they are a Dwarven Navy I think shining gold would make more sense

Maybe. It all depends on personal taste, and I think that the burnished gold would look a bit more 'salty'.

But then dwarfs spend all their time sharpening weapons on whetstones and polishing shields, so you're probably right.

I say regal blue for cloak, mithril silver for chainmail & shining gold for special armour.
I'm thinking gray and blue, with lots of gold.
That sounds like my color scheme but just replace gold with silver
Those colors really look good together
I do not like grey too much... dwarves look better shiny, grey goes too much with chainmail.
I like the gray because it keeps the army looking serious.
Darthchipmunk you should also use a brown in your scheme

Unless it's Shadow Grey, which is what I use (it looks blue) I don't like grey, it's too dull.

And Taruan brown looks quite miserable. If it's for weapons then it will be wood, and Dwarfs do not make anything out of wood.

Also it looks a bit too bleak on cloth, I think.

You need some more exciting colours, e.g red, blue.
well if u were to build a sea hold, u might need ships, id suggest maybe a copy of a viking longboat? anayways thx

I don't catch well the question here, could you be a bit more expressive ?

Dwarves distrust water greatly, and would rather have thier feet ground on solid ground, or 100 feet below it if possible. That is why they build steam ships, floating hulks of steel with wich they dominate the boarders of Karak Varn's sea hold.
Sure,

If a Dwarf Kingdom were to create a sea hold, they would need means of transportation, trade, and maybe if they were skilled enough a raiding force. Dwarfs always appealed to me as a Norse-Germanic-Scottish type of race. Naturally Dwarfs would want something swift and light to go up river in. One type of boat can fit into all of these areas, a viking longboat. I have no clue what rules u might apply to such an idea but hey its an idea.
As always,
