Hey, just put this together and would love comments.

HQ

Chimera w/hvy flamer & multilaser

Veterans

Chimera

Total: 500 pts

CCS addition: Plasma x2

Troop 1 squad 2-3 addition: Grenade Launcher
Troop squad 4 added with auto cannon

Vet Addition: Bastonne, Vox, Melta x1, Change Chimera for Vendetta

Total: 750 pts

CCS addition: Remove Missile Launcher, Add Medic, Plasma X1, Chimera

Troop squad 4: Change Autocannon to missile launcher, Add Grenade Launcher

Add LRBT

Total: 1000 pts

CCS addition: Carapace

Add Basilisk, Leman Demolisher

Add Vet Squad w/ GL X3 and Chimera

Total: 1960 pts

Sorry if the format is weird, I thought it would be the easiest way to show the progression from 500 pts to 2000. I think most of it is straight foward (chimeras run around destroying things, vendetta drops in and kills vehicles, etc). I'm not quite sure what to do with the last 40 points. It pretty much has to go to the vehicles, either extra armor for the chimeras, sponsons for the lemans, or pintles all around.

Any questions or comments are welcome and appreciated.

For 500 points, how about a commander with the orbital bombardment guy.

2 squads of guardsmen with 3 heavy weapons teams of heavy bolter
Plus
1 heavy weapons team of autocannons? and they all have carapace armour.
Plus a tech priest with a power weapon.

Just short suggestions

First of all, I'd like to keep it as a progression list, so I don't want to change the 500 point list too far from the 750 point list, and so on. The idea is that at 500 points, it can deal with the threats expected at 500 points, and so on as the points increase.

Secondly, I'm not sure how your suggested layout works. I've tried a couple of calculations and I'm not getting 500 points. Is it a command squad, two troop choices (two PCS, four squads), and a tech priest? What's the purpose of the tech priest with no vehicles? He's not independent and can't join a squad, so he's just a target.

Thirdly, I noticed some of my primary calculations were off. The last list is 1460, not 1960.

Again, please keep the comments comming, I appreciate all advice and critiques.

No problem, i understand

the tech priest with a power axe is just a good old c.c character when some oddball reaches through your hailf of fire. usually a guy with a good save or a nasty power fist equivilant.

( he can join any squad, if they have no special rules that don't allow anyone in, once the game has started )

I saw it happen a few times today and the tech marine sorted them out every time, when other guardsmen couldn't.
