Skeleton Lovin'

Skeletons are quite simply, the best unit in the game.
For sheer staying power, and their lovely ability to soak up damage and then regenerate it, is lovely to behold.

The sheer fact that you can place the unit 3" in front of a knight unit, knowing it won't break when they charge it, and readying your black Knights on the flank is bliss.

But what of the individual, unsupported prowess of your skeleton friends?

What have your skeletons killed, unsupported?

In my Case:

My friends Chaos Warriors.
Every. Single. Time.

But on one memorable occasion, my skeletons managed to charge him, killing 4, with their 5 attacks. the dice gods failed his champion, the only model left, that was able to attack, and they unit fled, a whole 2" My skeletons overran a good 10" into the flank of another unit, which was quickly crushed.

Another good one, was a brettonian charge, where the Knights managed to miss EVERY attack they had. The horses did better, as they actually managed to hit and wound a skeleton, but I promptly passed the 5+ save.
The Skeletons then proceeded to bring down two knights, with them failing their 2+ saves, and fleeing a measly 6", for my skeletons to cut them down.
I can picture the scene still, Brettonians going in for the glorious charge, only to have ninja skeletons dodge every attack, and lay down serious smack in return. And as the knights try to flee, they get dragged down, and brutallised mercilessly.

hehe.

Anything similar happen to you guys? or is it only my skeletons who are gods?

yeah I love doing that to my bros chaos warrior... I think you just got REALLY lucky with those knights though he musta been sooooooo mad lol
I've killed off Lizardmen Stegadons with only core units before. Actually, my core units seem to have really good luck against the Stegadon.

The first time, a regiment of my Zombies got charged by the Stegadon, survived the charge (though taking heavy casualties), and on the next turn, my friend got really bad rolls, and my Zombies actually did a wound to the Stegadon, I won combat due to ranks and outnumbering, and the Stegadon fled. I don't think I caught the Stegadon, because if I recall correctly, it was later that game when 2 regiments of Skeletons came at the Stegadon from all angles, taking it down.

I'm a pretty new player, and I'm recently starting to truly understand the power that Skeletons and Zombies have.
Ever since I Converted my skeleton champion so he looks a lot cooler (this sort of big hair effort and a high elf shield and stuff) he has started to actually kill stuff the modelling gods must be smiling.

My dire woif Champion (doom wolf) has killed two High elf generals in his time.
Okay, I'll grant that I love my skeleton crew. I have one big unit of 25 that I run on a nice GF9 base. In its front two ranks, I use the Cursed Company models. Depending on who my foe is, I put certain skeletons up front: the Orc skeleton, the Saurus skeleton, the Dwarf, or the Skaven.

But I'd like to give a shout out to zombies. With a lucky summoning behind some Chaos warriors followed up by a well-timed Danse Macabre, I ran those warriors down. They've also taken out a Slann with his precious wittle Temple Guard.

There are a lot of enemy units immune to fear and with other tricks up their chainmail sleeves, but there are a whole lot more that wet their pantaloons and book it for the hills the first time a zombie taps on their shoulder.

Zombies = (Y)
danse macabre is AMAZING no one ever expects it...when I roll for spells and I roll a couple of 5s they are like meh wtv cool spell.. they TOTALLY overlook it and use ALL of their dispel dice on nehek and BAM in combat another greta hting is the book of arkhan this baby is awsome for a powerful unit of knights to get into combat first turn.... or second turn...whoever goes first
well i saw a battle where zombies tied up a stegodon for three turns when there where only 6 zombies left. Turn 4 a necromancer raised 15 more held it up for 3 more turns

I haven't been using it lately, but you are absolutley right. Vanhel's Danse Macabre, or Book of Arkan, are both amazing. Unfortunatley, my main opponent, knows the benefits of it, and saves his dispel dice for that usually. But no, I love that spell. It's great to just be like "I summon a unit of Zombies behind your guys" and like, whatever, cuz he's got some skinks there ready to knock them off next turn before I charge, but then I'm like "and I'm gonna go ahead and take my rear charge now, cuz I'm using my Book or Arkan" and then it's like AUTO FLEE because I win combat now :)

Anyways, I think Skellies and Zombies are reliable for not breaking at all. No fear they have. But I think you should not rely now on the kills. As this is a rare occasion they can kill so much. thsoe 4 chaos warriors... that's nearly all of the unit's points earned back!

my skeletons really haven't done much for me unfortunately, they seem to always get stuck in a go nowhere, waiting to die situation, always dying when it counts. Don't get me wrong though, they really have saved me and tied up chosen knights more then once. Once for so long that I managed to get another unit of skellies on the flank, and then 2 units of wolves on the flank and rear! Finally it was poof! autobreak, and my opponent was disheartened. I can't believe that you guys are saying you beat chaos warriors with them, two of my friends play chaos, and that hasn't happened yet for me, its always a slow diminish. Hopefully I can get the dice gods back on my side soon, or better, against my friends.

I've been playing WEs since they came out. Just a few weeks ago, I broke out the VCs again. I lost the zombie avatar unfortunately...

Master Jabu try having a wight in your unit that will help greatly in defeating a unit of chaos warriors
Yea I've been working on that...I don't have the money to buy any bitz right now.
