SM Scout and IG conversions??

I'm looking to create a carapace armoured IG, based on the SM Scout plastics. My plan is to add the Cadian vox-caster head together with either some kind of grav-shute or otherwise an equipment pack from the heavy weapons sprue.

Would this work? Has anyone got any pictures of conversions with the Scout models? I know that there is a scale issue between scouts and IG, but figure that the larger body will make the figures look more armoured and padded out.

What about the lasguns though? How easy would it be to swap out the bolters?

Thanks in advance for any help

Don't know how the scout-arms with bolters are, but it is probably easy to cut it off (if it is even attached from the begining) and swap for a lasgun. Might require some greenstuff-work.
Would be quite cool, The scout arm is attached to the bolter, but it would be easy to get it off

(It also comes with shotguns)
Carapace armor is typically for Storm Troopers. Is this where you are going with this? Just curious. I don't think you should have much trouble if you use the plastic scout models. The metals ones would need to be shaved down - resulting in the destruction of the bolter, and possibly a messy model to work with. The plastics wont be hard to work with, and any mistakes can be covered up with Green Stuff. Also keep in mind that Storm Troopes carry Hellguns - esent. upgraded lasguns. If you cut the las mag off a cadian pattern lasgun and run a guitar wire (or other hose/wire suitable type) from the mag area to a back pack, you have a pretty easy Hellgun conversion. Good luck!
I'm trying to create a whole platoon of IG infantry in carapace armour, so not just Storm Troopers.

Been asking this question on a few forums and people seem to think it would work, so think I will buy a box o' scouts and try it. Biggest worry is the lasgun... I think I might take an easy route out: file or cut off the bolter muzzle, and attach a lasgun muzzle. This way the bolter is noticably different with minimal conversion - I hopefully won;t find too many complaints that if isn;t WYSIWYG...!

You would have to remake the magazine as well. And there should really be no problem to just cut off the bolter and attach a lasgun.
Cutting off the bolter is easy; the problem is that the scout's left hand is attached to the gun, not the arm, just as on the cadian plastics. You could possibly use the shotguns instead: fill in the ejection port and add a barrel from tubing with a sloped edge. For any actual hellguns you could use the bolter arms instead and run a cable from where the mag was to a backpack.
Cadian heads work well on the scout bodies, a guy at the local store is doing a grenadiers army using exactly that.
