Hey i have a couple of questions about traitor marines, I'm thinkning about finishing with my loyalist marines, and joining their older, evil brothers. Please post if you can give me answers to these questions:

// What's your opinion on the choices/flexibilty/equipment,etc. of the Thousand Sons?

// How large do you usually field chaos marine squads?

// In your opinion, what units do you think are more effective in general: Raptors or Bikers?

Regular troops have little to no choices, characters, chosen, AC's have a lot of choices and can really be nasty.

Certainly not the easiest army to start with.

// How large do you usually field chaos marine squads?
Depends on the legion I play. When fielding my Emperors Children I often field squads of 6 since thats the favored numbers. Otherwise 8 seems a more solid number. CC squads often 10 man strong.

Probably bikers. The increased toughnes and ability to turbo boost makes them much more survivable. Biggest problem with raptors is that they are no more survival than your regular marine. All in all, raptors are more difficult to use.

Extremely inflexible. In fact, they're the most rigid of all the Legions, simply because their troops have very little options open to them. That doesn't mean they're poor choices for an army, but they do require quite a bit of experience and skill to wield properly.

I field mine in eight man squads. This allows me to have an effective squad in Close Combat and still be small enough to infiltrate in most occassions.

If making a fire support squad (For example, a single Lascannon) then I only run five or six marines.

This also largely depends on which Legion you're playing - if playing a Cult army, then you'll probably want to look into favoured numbers.

Depends on what you want to do with them. Raptors can reach Close Combat very quickly, but they're just as fragile as a standard marine. Their Hit and Run rule allows them to break off and either turn their attentions to a different, more important target, or drop another round of fire into their opponents and claim another charge bonus.

Bikers are wonderful if you want to summon large amounts of daemons. They can easily turbo boost to a strategic point and rely upon a 3+ invulnerable save to weather them through the return fire, at which point hordes of daemons arrive to chew up the enemy.
