Hello everyone ^^
as a trained Outrider here in the north, I get a hold of some stuff quite often, one of theese beeing the complementary Assault on Black Reach. Now, i've never been a big fan of Space marines (in ANY way, sorry...), but with all theese models I have from the box (and another one i've bought myself), I have quite a few Marines at my hand.
Now, raving through my mind trying to find something that appeals to me about SM, I simply found it to be two things:
Land Speeders and Space Wolves ^^
Now, to combine theese into a list I thought would be both fun and interesting to play, I came up with the following list. Incorporating the Bolter wielding Marines and a Terminator, then just adding, ehm, "a few" Land Speeders and a Rune Priest ^^
HQ 110
Rune Priest 110
Chooser of the Slain
Elites 65
Lone Wolf 65
Terminator armour
2 Fenrisian Wolfs
Troops 405
9 Grey Hunters 195
2 Flamers
Power fist
Rhino
10 Grey Hunters 210
2 Flamers
Power fist
Rhino
Fast Attack 420
2 Land Speeders 140
Multi-melta and Heavy Flamer
2 Land Speeders 140
Multi-melta and Heavy Flamer
2 Land Speeders 140
Multi-melta and Heavy Flamer
Points: 1000
There we have it. The Greyt Hunters together with the Rune Priest will camp on my home objective, waiting for the enemy to close in, mainly drawing the enemy to either move to me and give my Land Speeders area to deep strike or to stay put and let me dictate the movement. The Land Speeders will either Deep Strike or start on the field and take cover the first turn, to later speed in for Tank popping and Infantry flaming. The Lone Wolf is there mainly for looks, and also as a sort of DS'ing Terminator deterrent by following closely behind a Rhino ^^
Now, what i've been considering is the changing of the Grey Hunters transport to Drop pods and have a whole Deep Striking army. Altough I'm doubting this tactic as i'd rather have them sitting on an objective in a Rhino being, "safe" (I know this not to be all to true as a IG-mech player).
Anyways, anyone have any tips on this?
I know maybe a DA list would be better suited as a Land Speeder list, but I just find SW to be a lot more fun ^^
Cheers ^^
Oh, and Merry Christmas! ^^
