So, in my last game where a bunch of stuff was proxied because I was trying out some units I don't yet have. I spent 40pts on four spore mines and used the Orbital Deployment rule. The mines deep striked (stroked?, stricken?) and unfortunately scattered into difficult, area terrain. As per the rules for deep striking, this unit treated difficult terrain as dangerous terrain. Even more unfortunately, I rolled a 1 for one of the models and it took a wound causing it to exploded, with the blast template easily wounding the surviving mines.
Awww. Oh well! I really wanted to see how effective they would be at disrupting his deployment zone, guess I've got to pick a better area to drop them in next time! Thanks, abbazabba.
i usually always take at least one unit of them. if the missions' deployment rules state that he can't place his troops 12/18/24" from ANY enemy model, it's awesome. had 3 units of them in one game. completely ruined his "alpha strike" and i picked his units out, one by one.
I think you were correct and it's Deep Striked btw... Otherwise you get Deep struck which just sounds funky...
