I have started a CSM Army. I am basing them On the Violator colour scheme.

I have chosen to go with Skills and The Mark of Undivided. I have the following models which I bought to start. But have made some blunders in the Assembely Line.

Here is a list of models and assembley configurations. I will Play the models as WYSIWYG.

Currently play 400pts 40k in 40min. MOC and skill have been omitted.

Squad 1
Aspiring Champion with BP and PW
2 War Hounds (bought by AC)
2 CSM with BP and CCW
2 CSM with PG

Squad 2
Rhino with CB and HL
CSM with HB
2 CSM with Bolters
2 CSM with BP and CCW

What models should be on my next shopping list. I have been looking to get a Chaos Lord and another box of 8 CSM.

I have a defiler but need to be assembled, this will be done when I reach a 1000 points.

I am also looking for background on the Violators. I do believe from one of the posts that they are Renegade Marine Influenced by Tzeench or is it Slaanish. Who are lead by a Dreadnought. I also have read they where a loyalist Chapter.

Approximatly 60% of all geneseed comes from the Ultra Marines, whether this is correct or not I will not know. If so, would they be classfied as a Second founding of the Ultra Marines gone renegade?

As I would like to see if they are a Renegeade Ultra Marines Second Founding Chapters.

All in put as References are welcome.

First, let's do some moving around of your current models. You have two marines with Bolters mixed with marines with bolt pistols - you should consider moving them out of that group and into the group with Plasma Guns., and mount them in the rhino. So you'll have two groups that look like this -

Champ with Hounds
Two Bolter Marines
Two Plasmagun Marines
Rhino

CSM with Heavy Bolter
Four marines with BP/CCW

That will allow you to have a mobile firebase with Plasmaguns, and group 2 can either Heavy Bolter things dead and counter charge, or be a charging unit with the loss of firing the Heavy Bolter.

Don't buy the pre-made Lord. Either convert your own with the weapons you want, or wait until the new Cityfight Codex is released and the new models come out. The current Lord has a very bad selection of weaponry.

More marines is always good. You can never go wrong with having more marine models. An assault unit of BP/CCW marines with two Meltaguns and a Powerfisted champ is high on my list of "must have" things.

I can't claim to know much about their fluff, but if they aren't one of the original nine Legions or a splinter band of marines that have broken off from them, then they are a Second Founding that has gone renegade.

I assume the original poster refers to the Violator mini shown on C:CSM p76.

There are(were) Loyalist Violators (C:EoT p16) and Renegades (WD281 p72).

GW's shameless fluff butchery since 3rd ed means pretty much anything goes.

Let the army be whatever you want. After all, fluff ain't rules, as they say. Have fun!

Slight concern here is that I can only have 2 PG if I do not take the hvy bolter.
