ok this is my first impeial gaurd army i am starting.

Now i'm normally a deamon hunters or chaos player so ii have little idea of either HOW to use a weak armour save army or what all the new units are.

so far i have got the basic units and some kasrkin (they look kool so i'm using em)

basically i'm using the doctrines to create my own stly earmy but before i get started seriously i wnat to check on a fe things and ask for suggestions as to what other doctrines and what type units stratagy will be best

I liked the idea of the Elysian drop troops but i want heavy support so i was wondering that if i take the doctrine can i STILL take tanks and chimeras but have tehm set up at the normal method with some troops or MUST the whole army be able to be deplyoed by grav chute?(can this only work for inflantyry platoons or also for heavy weapons teams?)

I'm also taking the light infantry because well i'm a sniper rifle addict and i like infiltrate and hate moving slow in rought terrain (which there always seems to be oots of when iplay)

I'm now at an impasse. i AM taking the storm troopers squad choice since i wnat them. but i also want ech priests and ogryns.

however that sharpshooters skill looks great and now i have three choices but only two doctrines remaining. if my other ones are viable.

*storm Troopers

wanting
*sharpshooters
*techpriest
*ogryns

your suggestions PLEASE

alright you and I are in the same boat but here are some advice. Alright Sharpshooter is great in fire surport and anti tank squads. Orgyns are expensive so make good use of them. The techpriest is a waste unless oyu are fielding alot of tanks. Make sure you add two armored moble units. Most likly armored fist squads. But in your case its stormtroops. Your infanty squads should have both a special and heavy weapon squad. You must ad a Basilsk or a Lemun Russ. IM a nid player so i know how it is with low armored units. DONT FREAK OUT WHEN GUARDSMEN DIE. Just make sure heavy weapons are not lost. If oyu get in hth make sure there is alot of Guardsmen fighting to give you the edge.

Bottom Line: Guard are Expendable. Period. Never forget that.

A drip troop army can deep strike, but does not have to. I don't think that all units are required to, but I wouldn't split your force in to as Guard are already week enough. Light Infantry is good becuase it will let you Infiltrate and Deep Strike, Marksman is good. For the force you are making these are the Doctrines I would reccomend:

Drop Troops
Light Infantry
Storm Trooper Squads
IRON DISCIPLINE
Sharpshooters/Marksman

Iron Discipline is an essentail. It allows you to halt falling back units that wouldn't normally be able to regroup becuase they are at 50% starting strenght. Ogyrns and Enginseers are a joke. The enginseer has to paytwenty points to have a fifty-fifty chance of helping your vehicles. C'mon, for the price of a fully tricked out Enginseer you can get a whole new Chimera!

Are you considering the Forge World models fer the Valykrie and Vulture. You can use the Valykrie as transport for any Drop Troops Unit instead of haiving them deep strike. I'd use them just for one fully tricked out Storm Trooper Squad.

in my opinion i think you you should lose the enginseer because the only way to make him really effective at fixing stuff is to give him a couple of tech servitors, then you need to give him wargear to make him stand a chance in combat. i just dont think hes worth the points
