Hello all, been a while since ive posted on these boards

Just a quick post really for advice on how i should arm my Sword Brethern Termi's
when going up against horde armies such as Guard, Orks & Tyranids.

What would be the best way?

All advice appreciated.

Lightning Claws maybe or just get regular termies and shoot at them with 2 ac.

Against horde armies you want to go with shooting. I would take 2 assault cannons. The strength of terminators is their ability to move and shoot. You can keep on the move and stay out of assault range of the enemy and cut them down with storm bolters and assault cannons. Terminators against orks are a complete waste in an assault as they will only get a 4+ save. IG, orks and most 'nids don't get a save against storm bolters or assault cannons.

against orks they can be very usefull because of the firepower they can provide but you need to be very carefull and make sure the orks never get to assault them.

Also should i go with power fists & maybe drop in a couple of chainfists?

The chainfist is only worth taking if you think you will need to crack open a high AV vehicle. A regular PF should usually do the trick at S8+d6. Termies are expensive enough as is. Adding a chainfist is usually overkill unless you want to crack open a Leman Russ. The most effective way to take out high AV targets is to use a multi-melta.

most of the time when you are able to assault the front you are also able to assault the side armour of a tank which is most of the time 12 or maybe 11. S8 +2D6 will give you an armour penetration of 15. this is an extreme overkill considering that the armour is 12.

and you have 8 rending shots which mean that you get an armour penetration of 12+D6 when you roll a 6 for rending.
