Hi everybody,

I am making a gaunts ghosts army, and, on account of the lack of 5th ed rules, i am playing it like this:

Gaunt:
Lord commissar

corbec:
company commander

dorden:
veteran with medi-pack

mad larkin:
veteran with sniper

and finally:

Brin milo:
veteran with regimental standard (tanith pipes)

As you can see, they form a single company command squad, with a lord commissar. so hers the question: how do i make up the rest of the army: what units best represent the men of tanith. so far i was thinking of veterans, with the camo-cloaks thing, but what do you guys think?

I would suggest maybe using the Captain Al'rahem rules to represent Corbec perhaps? This would allow your platoon to outflank the enemy which would seem in keeping with the fluff. And then for the rest of your army it seems vets (as you said) are the way forward.

You could easily include vehicles within your army, just paint them up as an armoured company from another regiment that has been allocated to gaunt. This is how most regiments gain armoured support regardless, so fluff-wise is A-ok.

Hope this helps.

Theme wise vets with cloaks go fine -
For cloaks you could :
1 ) Get empire outrider cloaks (I did that for my camo cloak vets )
2 ) Do a GS mold (see the sons of orar in projects - he did that on his scouts
3 ) get tallern and convert them

Or you could just paint them in camo... The description of camo-cloaks in the book states, "some units are able to use rare camoleoline material in thier armour, uniforms or cloaks", so it would be fluff justifiable.

Although I realise you want to create the ghosts, so they should really have cloaks, it would be alot of effort lol.

Other than modeling the cloaks, the real challenge is making an army that has any chance of being competitive. In the fiction, the folks from Tanith are able to take down tanks with "tread fethers' and there is never even a mention of meltas, lascannons, etc.

That being said, I'd probably model the army for how it was organized in Honor Guard, where they were mounted in Chimeras and teamed with a Pardus armored regiment.

Could run Gunny Harker as "Try Again" Bragg. Also, didn't they have models of the Ghosts up on GW's site for a while? Maybe you can find some models on ebay or something.

Edit: Found em, here's the site. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490651&prodId=prod1140078

Looks like they have Gaunt, Corbec, Dorden, Milo, Larkin, and Rawne. They say it's "Gaunt, Corbec, Dorden, Milo, Larkin, and a 'Tanith trooper'", but going by the picture, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Rawne.

i see what you mean about making them competitive, but, as always with the tanith, just make all the competitive elements that go against the background, from a regiment assigned to them. (e.g tanks, lascannons etc)
