I've just realised that every unit in a Tau army apart from Commanders and Tanks with Targeting Arrays hit on 4+ :eek: <:>

yea i agree with you, i dont know how many times my battlesuits failed me at the wrong moments. i'm forced to twin link my battlesuits but i think its not worth the points that way. i wanna take a poll, do people fear 17 fire warriors lined up in the open, or a 10 man tactical squad with a lascannon?

They fear Tau, because people misenterpret Tau for being the best at shooting, when they aren't. Space marines are :( . They basically undergo the same training as IG troops. They just have alot better basic guns than everyone does :) . Most likely the Space Marines would win, beacuse they have a batter roll to hit, better armor save, and a lascannon. Also if they got in CC w/ the fire warriors (well we all know how that would turn out) :lol:

look just because you are a shooty army does notmean you are grat at it. You really think the average person can shoot perfectly? No they cant thats why TAU has markerlights and suits probably have targeting computers thats why they have the BS 4. Stop your bitching and just play.

I was generally appalled at first, seeing as they take one point from WS and put it.... well, in equipment. :D

There's a point off in WS and Initiative when compared with a Sister of Battle, (who is also 10 points,) but then it's bolter/boltgun vs. pulse rifle and carbines. Not everyone can be of super-human engineering, let alone the Tau, although I would've figured the battlesuits at least gave +1 to BS for having additional computer systems aid aiming, (besides the markerlights.) In addition, however, one must look at the limitations of options: the only alternative to a pulse rifle is the pulse carbine, a shorter-range assault weapon that pins, and grenades. SoBs, on the other hand, can get flamers and meltas. Sure, those aren't the best weapons, but even Imperial Guardsmen, who have superior stats and weaker guns, have better weapon options such as a heavy weapons team and plasma guns.

But still, I wouldn't want Tau to emulate another race anyways, and am fairly satisfied with having half of the dice in my favor. Tau aren't bio-engineered, and you should consider yourself blessed for a troop with a helmet and a thin suit that can use markerlights to hit at 2+, whereas I would think only advanced battlesuit tracking systems would be capable of that.

Well, that's my two cents, and no, there are no returns for that transaction.

I must say its pretty pathetic, and remember, the markerlight only works for one model to shoot at what hs been targeted. (Only one fire warrior could shoot and hit with a 2+) So basicly markerlights are only good for broadsides or seeker missiles... And broadside railguns are twin-linked...

"Each markerlight hit can be used to either launch a seeker missile or to mark a target for another vehicle or model" (Codex: Tau 19) Note that it is model, not models or unit, therefore, a markerlight is only effective when used to help a heavier weapon aim
