Ive just started to build a ts(or at least tzeentch-influenced) army and the way I see it I just gotta have:
2 squads of ts
1 dreaddie (prob w lascannon/ccw and havoc launcher to make an allround guy)
5 termies (either ts termies (2W) or chosen (magic in big armour))
5-10 screamers (but cant find them to buy.....)
5 flamers+ a couple of horrors as cannon fodder
a couple of spawns since i kinda like the idea of making enemies into spawn lol

You can take spells instead of havocs. The screamers would make some speed, which i kinda miss.

But, since im a noob, dont listen to me :)

N00b or not, your list is quite similar to what I'd get:

some termies (rubric, not chosen),
flamers and horrors, probably 5-4 .
a dread with twin lascannon
possibly predator with lascannons
2-3 squads of TS with rhinos
Lord of Change as HQ.

When playing the Thousand Sons your opponent is going to expect a lot of firepower, don't dissapoint them... while slow and horrible CC fighters, regular TS Marines can lay down a withering amount of boltgun rounds and thier 2 wounds means they'll be around a bit to keep shooting, and while it's tempting to get a free sorcerer for each squad, remeber that any time the squad takes an odd number of unsaved wounds the sorcerer takes the odd wound and dies... don't forget vehicles can overome that pesky problem of your troops being too slow, and even though you dont have acess to a lot of the cool trop types, remember you can still use Dreads and the dreaded Defiler.

This next suggestion is kind of expensive points-wise, but the look of horror that my opponents always have is priceless...

Most Players when facing the Thousand Sons will try to exploit thier weakness, in CC... so shock your opponent with a squad that is a beast in CC, get a unit of possesed and give them Daemonic Talons (horrible, evil, nasty things) and give them a rhino for protection, and to get them where you need them. For a real treat give them Psychic powers as well just so they can have some range and so they can soften up their targets. The Lord of Change is no slouch in the CC department either...

overall The Thousands Sons are the Hardest CHoas force to master, but they can be a blast to play, and they're my personal favorite legion(besides followers of Malal) But the true key to winning with the Thousand Sons is to stick with your strengths...Firepower, Sorcery, and Daemons lots of Daemons....'cause Flamers rule!

well thats my two credits...

Unfortunately aspiring champion can't have Essence, the only way to get an aspiring champion with 2 wounds is by giving him a Juggernaut, which is Khorne exclusive. However I refuse to believe that GW intended the sorceror to die like this. The rules were written for units that were entirely composed of multi-wound creatures like ogryns, and I'm fairly sure you don't have to remove the sorceror, see him as a separate dude when it comes to removing whole casualties.
Note these are my personal thoughts, a rules lawyer will insist on removing the sorceror as that's officially what the rules seem to say.
