Thousand Sons Sorcerer Lord

I'm planning on modeling a Thousand Sons Sorcerer Lord with the following stats:

Chaos Lord [195]
-Mark of Tzeentch
-Pair of Lightning Claws
-Winds of Chaos
-Disk of Tzeentch
-D. Strength
-D. Aura
-D. Resiliance

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, as I'm not quite sure how to model a Disk of Tzeentch, and not quite sure where which Daemonic gifts to model on him.

Also, I was thinking about using a normal sorcerer Body 3 and taking off the shoulderpads by filing them down. Then giving him Lightning Claws.

My final question is, is it fluffy to give a Thousand Son daemonic traits (because of the Rubric spell)?

Thanks!

One disk of Tzeentch.
Nice!

Thanks!

Any ideas about the Daemonic Fluff, or the body, or is my idea for the model pretty on-target?

Thanks

I don't claim to be a master of fluff, but I'm pretty sure that the Thousand Sons legion is mostly non-mutated. After all, that's why the Rubric was cast in the first place - to destroy the mutations that were warping their troops.

However, that doesn't mean you can't pass off the Gifts as something else. For instance, since he's a powerful Psyker Lord, why can't his psyker powers give him enhanced strength and toughness beyond even what a normal Space Marine has? And maybe he has a force field generator that gives him his invulnerable save.

Just because they're classified as Daemonic Gifts doesn't mean they all need to be mutations.

As for the model, I worry about your pose. Usually models that ride a Disk of Tzeentch have a side profile - for example, they head looks over their shoulder as they ride. Imagine like on a surfboard. Having a model that is facing forward seems unnatural to me.

Thanks, I didn't think of that...

I'm not sure how many models there are that are looking over their shoulder that I could use a a Thousand Son Sorcerer... but I'll keep looking (any suggestions would be great!)
On modelling weapons, I don't think there is much that can be said really if you arm him with lightning claws.

It's an effective combination, but myself I'd prefer a good old Dark Blade. It's cheaper and more effective against T3 multi-wound things (when people try to tie you up with scarabs etc). However both options are viable.

Oh and consider throwing on Eye of Tzeentch. Your character is already expensive but it's a good piece of wargear.

Yeah, the rubric stopped the mutations, doesn't say anything about restoring them to their original bodies though. *wink*
I like your idea, but you're going to have to be very careful.. Unless you're planning on giving this guy a squad of raptors to take hits for him, he's going to be very fragile for a 200 point model.
Well...Thousand Sons can't take Raptors, but he didn't say wif he was doing pure Thousand Sons or Black Legion.
I had a guy (or two) on disc's, but they are as Mantis said, way to fragile for my liking.
The conversions are nice though and it gives the army quite a centerpiece.

The last one, now on foot, I based on the Dark Angels hez...az...special librarian model. I changed the head and gave him a staff instead of the sword. He fits the Disc very nice as there is motion in that model. Not sure he would look all that great with lightning claws though, but as stated earlier the Darkblade is superior.
I'll post a pic if you want.
Discs are very cool but I don't like them for a CC model, I prefer them for a cheap Lt. with aura, disc, power weapon and bolt of change. Use it as a cheap support weapon to snipe tanks and as extremely mobile CC support.

For CC you're far better off using speed and gift of chaos because people freak out about a 12 inch charge range, plus you can take hounds if you want them to provide cheap attacks.
I actually use the exact same sorcerer lord and have had nothing but success with him. You just have to be clever how you move him up the board. After that it's all smooth sailing, because he's just as unstoppable in CC as any Chaos Lord. And it's a good fluffy choice, too.
