Just a question about tranport tactics.

I am planning a 1500ot army and I aim to be running
1 battlewagon with 19 orks nob PK bosspole and 1 KFF big mek
This will be surrounded by 3 trukks packed to the brim with boyz. and possibly a escort of skorcha buggies.

my question is, given that everything is open topped is it better to move 6" and fire trusting in the 4+ cover or put the pedal to the floor and cover the 12" (18" for trukks) and get the feet on the floor?

yeah my plan involves a big mek with KFF in the battlewagon so ideally all these vehicles would get the 4+ obscured cover save but its asking a little too much that they'll all survive.

Also what the hell do you do with trukks after the boyz disembark?

Floor it man. In objective games you could capture the objectives in one or two turns and in annhilation your could just drop off behind the trukk or into cover, or of course unload the boyz into the heart of your foe and get stuck in nicely. There is no gurantee that your trukks will even make it to the front line, so if the trukks have already done their job then fire your big shoota.

Well, it all depends on the enemy you are facing. I usually use 2 battlewagons at 1500 pts, filled up with shootaboys. 1 wagon is too easy to destroy, so 2 is more safe. at 1000 I use 1 wagon. In trukks I load up with sluggaboys. Because I have shootaboys in a OK number (40) I can hail down bullets from the open topped vehicle, or drive up close and cut them down in close combat.

So, since I have a mixed army, I can get it to work against different kinds of armies.

If the opponent has lost of shooty stuff:
Drive as fast as I can, hide the trukks completly, either behind cover or behind my battlewagons, OR get them under the KFF for 4+ save. Get in to combat as soon as I can! (this usually works for IG, Eldar and probably Tau too)

If the opponent has a close bombat army:
Hide the trukks as above, and wait for the moment to strike. Shootaboys shouldsoften the enemy up before the assault. Looted wagons, buggies and other shooty stuff together with shootaboys can do this pretty well.

If your transport is full of shoota boyz, move 6" and blast away. If you have it full of sluggas or choppy Nobs, floor it and get into assault ASAP. Ork transports are not very resilient thanks to low armor and open-topped, so you need to get stuck in as quickly as possible.

That Diagram is the most helpful piece of tactica I have ever seen on this website!!!

I also burst out laughing when I read the option you get when you select double No's as your last choices!

It has now become my desktop wallpaper

With your loadout, floor it! Otherwise your trukks will get blown up and you'll be in a mess. Just floor it and jump them with choppas and PK's!

Love the chart. As for advice when assembling a speed freaks army, I like having a battlewagon in front with 20 shoota boyz (w/2 big shootas, nob, powerklaw, bosspole) inside, and 1-3 trukks behind them, with either 12 slugga boyz (w/nob, powerklaw, bosspole, ram, and perhaps a stikkbomb chukka) or 3-5 meganobz (w/combi-skorchas) inside each.

KFFs are fantastic in speed freak lists, but I wouldn't put him in the battlewagon. It'd cut down how many big shootas they can have, and it makes it an even bigger priority. I like putting the KFF in one of the trukks, either with slugga boyz (w/burna and 'eavy armor) or with the meganobz (w/bosspole and cybork).

Rokkit buggies are also fantastic, and skorcha buggies are good if you don't use meganobz. A unit of 5-6 warbikes w/powerklaw and bosspole helps round out the army, and they're also a good place to put the warboss (w/powerklaw, bike, cybork, combi-skorcha, and possibly an attack squig) if you're using them.

As for the question of 'shooting' or 'chopping', it really depends on the situation. That's why I like using shoota boyz in battlewagons. They have either options. 12 isn't really enough shoota boyz to make a difference though, so I usually use slugga boyz or meganobz in trukks.

Good luck!
