Two [1500] SW lists. Fast + Mech

467 Views 6 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Araith
I'm currently in a maps based campaign where each player gets two armies (of the same race) two play with.

So far I've used the same list for both armies.

I'm currently rewriting the lists and thought it would be fun to try two really diffrent lists.

The armies I face are Tau, Khorne and balanced DH

I advise against the first list. I'd combine both slogging BC units into a larger unit and the WGBL for a Wolf Priest.
What you could also do is change one of the slogging BC units into a GH bolter/plasma support unit.

But the best advise I can offer for the first list is making it a 13th Company list. That one is made as a fast footslogging list. And you don't nessecarily have to use many different models.

I thought about making the two 8 man packs into one of 15, but I thought that I would have more tactical choices with two units than one. And I also have found that 8 BCs tend to make a mess of everything I charge so 15 BCs will in most cases be a huge over kill... Still a unit of 15 can take more casualties while slowly walking up the field... ;P

I dont see why you think I should take a Wolf Priest instead of a WGBL... I can get the WGBL with a frost axe without having to pay for a power weapon. I like the WP but mainly because of the Potions and Balms and thats wasted on a character on bike (except to use on the wolves)
Forgot something on the WP. I meant to advice you to get him on foot to join the slogging BC.

But I love the HQ on bike!

First round you move him 24 inches up the field. Hide him if you want but if you feel ****y (and the opponent doesnt have any rapid fire squads in range) just put him right in front of the opponent. A +2 inv save goes a long way... Either he soaks up a huge amount of shots or gets ignored (most often the first case). Either way the opponent is in trubble...

Second round just charge him right in... Lovely...

Only problem is that he costs a lot...
You're right.
Btw, a good way of improving your WGBL is dropping the Attack Bikes for a small unit of BC bikers with a fist. That would however wet you on 1510 pts... maybe drop 1 Wolf? It would be worth it I believe.
