well i saw this page on http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/painting/nid_hunters/2models.htm and was freaked out at how cool they were...i currently collect tyranids but was thinking about starting a new army. i like the marines as they have so many models and chapters, though i will go with the regular marines. i thought about theming it on the tyrannic veterans, i mean...look at this! http://us.games-workshop.com/games/...id_hunters/popup.htm?images/dave_front_bg.jpg Think it's a good idea? any thoughts? i will start this as soon as i get the money. Please leave your thoughts!:w00t:

If you want to make a army that uses tyrannic war veterans then your only choice is to go with the ultramarines. They are the only ones who can take the tyrannic war veterans.
DerkaDerka, does your avatar have a pistol? if so, that's sweet! well, pertaining to this subject, do you have any tyranid heads you want to sell? willing to buy or trade. i have a nid hunter army.

it is called the Xenomarines. if you want to make a nid hunter army, just use the traits system.
Nah dude you can only use tyrannic war veterans in a ULTRAMARINES ARMY it states that in the rules for the guys. So if you want to use tyrannic war veterans then your gonna have to make an ultramarines army which is so boring:sleep:
You can make the equivilent of Tyrannic War vets by using traits. Trust your battle brothers and Suffer not the Alien to live give you all the same benefits, although it costs a few points more. The bonus is that you can give it to any squad you want and thereby field more than just three units. To get Hellfire ammo you just need to throw in a Deathwatch marine. The Deathwatch HB is way better anyway. I think doing this in a DIY chapter is much more interesting than going Ultramarine.
I dont think that you can throw in 1 deathwatch marine. Dont you have to have a squad of them?

Actually you don't. By doing that you miss out on their special rule that allows them to attack infantry with krak grenades.
the problem with suffer not the alien to live is that if you apply it to one squad, you have to apply it to all of them. i overlooked this for a long time, and will never use it unless i need to. never played against nids, though.
Tyrannic war veterans are real nasty pieces of work, not to be messed with.

As said, the real tryannic war veterans are far better than the trait versions, so Ultramarines are the only route.

The trait ones get too expensive and are mainly pointless. The T. war vets. also have a nice alternate heavy bolter ammo that is supremely versatile.
I love them, nid hunters are good against ANY army, but best at nids! One could guess by their names couldnt they? :ninja:
It seems to me that what you like the most about the Tyrranic War Veterans are the models. If so, just use them as Veterans if you don't want to play as Ultramarines.
As for someone who says that UM are boring, I personally haven't played against an UM army for well over 2 years. Blood Angels, now they are boring (mainly because of their predictability and the number of people playing them).
I play Ultramraines and i have to say they aren't that boring but my tyrannic war veterans don't in that much use since barely anybody plays tyranids...on a different subject kinda if u see any body playing necromunda kill them or their ability to play itat least.
Excuse me? Are you seriously requesting that we injure Mordheim players?
