3 warlocks

16 defender guardians

4 rangers

1 wraithlord

well yur on yur way. i had a hard time converting my vanilla eldar to ulthwe but i did it.

what uneed to buy immediately for a decent fieldable force:
1 or 2 farseer(s)
another box of guardians, maybe 2
another wraithlord

the way i see it, ulthwearmiy is a WHOLE bunch of guardians, led by a seer coucil.(in 1500 points i have 5 guardian squads) Wraithlords are just an awesome addition to the force that is alrrady powerful, both for looks and playability.

if u need anymore help, dont be affraid to email me. i would also be glad to help u with a list if u like. [email protected]

the way i plan to use my army is as mainly an assault force. Im thinking about having storm guardians along with defender guardians be the main assault force as i augment their powers with a mix of vypers and other aspect warriors. since the storm squads are black guardians, then they would have ws 4 and if i attach a warlock, i could enhacne their powers to ws 5 +1 initiative. My friend has my codex right now, but heres an army list idea i have:

HQ
3 farseers
5 warlocks

ELITE
10 howling banshee squad
10 striking scorpion squad
??? another elite choice?

TROOPS
Guardian Defender Squad
-warlock
-18 defender guardians
-support weapons platform (no designated weapon so i can mix and match
according to army)

Guardian Defender Squad
-warlock
-18 defender guardians
-support weapons platform (no designated weapon so i can mix and match
according to army)

Guardian Storm Squad
-warlock
-16 storm guardians

Guardian Storm Squad
-warlock
-16 storm guardians

Ranger Squad
-15 Rangers

FAST ATTACK
3 Vypers(also with interchangeable main weapons)
10 Guardian JetBikes
-plus 1 warlock on jetbike

HEAVY SUPPORT
1 wraithlord
1 falcon
??? im not sure about this one, a wraithlord would be good, but i want more firepower to bear down upon the enemy

---plan---
the idea would be to have a line of defender guardians and behind them, storm guardians.

rangers would take place behind sum defensive emplacement

elites would support any weaknesses i see in the ranks

heavy support would provide firepower throughout the lines

fast attack vypers take up firing positions

fast attack jetbikes used to attack weak flanks

id use the hq farseers to mind war any special units on the board that must be dealt with

wraithlord will cc any large and nasty units on the field

the guardians slowly move up firing their catapults
by the time enemy fire withers away the defender guardians, my storm guardians would be close enough for cc
elite units would support
and clean up the remaing units

probably wont field this whole army in the battle, but i could change my plan according to army

actually i like this idea alot. move the storm guardinans up, then fleet with them, back em up each with a guardian squad. dood thats a great idea.

i would get rid of the guardian jetbikes. they arent owrth the points. vypers are but use the points that u gain when u get rid of the guardian bikes and put CTM(targeting matrixes) on the vypers.

u dont need another elite choice. get a wave serpent for the scorpiosn tho cuz they cant fleet. but banshees can

give the seer coucil all witchblaed and throw on enhance on a warlock. give the farseers fortune and mind war. cast fortune on themselves to get re rollable 4+ inv saves. its nasty. plus with enhance they are I and WS 6 and warlocks areI and WS 5.

rangers can have only 10 in a squad,

why a falcon? are u transporting anybody? i would go with the cheaper fire prism. i had the same problem. i choose the falcon but it was a waste cuz i didnt carry anybody. the fire prism is str 9 ap 1 blast. its really good. i used it today with a CTM and took out 3 ork buggies,(in one shot) couple marine bikes, half a marine squad, and some other stuff.

as for the unsurity of the 3rd heavy suopport, u dont need ot take it. btw hwo many points are u lookin to field witht his? it loks to me about 2500?

should i get a strike force instead of a main army?
That's up to you. Personally, I like the way the Strike Force works, but check out the rules and see for yourself..
btw, if you didin't already know it, you must take a seer council if you play Ulthwé. It's a 1 per army choice and replaces the farseer entry

Aspect Warriors other than Dark Reapers are 0-1 in a Strike Force and Wraithlords are unavailable.

However the Avatar has a bodyguard and the whole army has BS4!

It may be worth trying if your feeling up to the challenge.

im not saying yur not, but it takes a really good player to win with a strike force. u gotta pick yur aspect warrior carefully. and u cant use brute force. trust me. but if yur up for a challenge like cat said go for it.

since u only get on aspect warrior, and exarch are the onyl one who ca open the writhgate, i suggest hawks as yur aspect. deep strike nayhwere and open it. next turn, yur army comes out of it and boom, right in the middle of the board.enemies deployment zone,

but dont forget warp spiders. they move 12 inches in the movement, then an extra 2d6 in the assult. they have a much better armor save then do swooping hawks and are stronger i belive.

Pros of using Spiders
-better save
- dont ahve to deep strike in(not risk)

cons
- not as fast(since they cant pop anywhere on the board)
- if u role double ones in the assult to see how far u move, one dies

Pros of using hawks
-gernade packs are REALLY good and can still be used and opent he writhgate(when u open the gate, u cant shoot, but u can still use their gernade packs)
-open gate where ever u want,(deep strike, even if mission doesnt allow it)
-exarch is really good in close combat

cons
-can lose the exarch to deep strike and yur whole army is gone
-not as good saving throw.

Um...you can't take warp spiders.

Actually stick some dark reapers in the webway as well. They don't count towards that aspect thing, AND they shoot anything to hell.

A good plan would be use a small group of guardians to haul butt across the table with fleet of foot, set 'em up about 30 inches away, and your opponent shouldn't go for 'em. Guardians are useless at that range. Pop the wraithgate, and suddenly that pest has become instant flaming DEATH.
