I saw these conversions a while ago:
Unite All Action: Updating Hero Quest Against the Ogre Horde miniatures

Although the Heroquest Ogres are smaller than the current ones, they're not that much smaller and the modern hand weapons and heads fit surprisingly well. As it happens, I have an old set of these (and spare bits from the modern kits), so I'm tempted to try doing something similar.

I have some reservations about cutting up these old models. (A quick look on eBay shows mint condition HQ ogres listed for £15 each, though I don't know whether anyone's actually buying at that price.) Mine are caked in thick enamel paint though, which probably means they're not worth much if anything, so I don't think there's much to be lost there. On the other hand, this may mean that stripping them could be more effort than it's worth - given what my time's worth, I may as well buy a new box of Bulls.

What do you think? Should I try restoring/converting my old models? Or would I be better off just sticking to the new ones?
