What should I get a Predator or a vindicator for my army?
I have an assault squad 3 tac squads with BP+CCW 2 with standard weapons. A devestator squad with 4 missile launchers. A predator with TLLC and HBS, chaplain with lightening claws Master with power weapon and combat shield and 2 standard dreads and a venerable dread.

After seen the list you have until now I voted for the Vindicator. Before seeing I was with the Predator. But since you already have one you can make a use of a Vindicator! :p

Well as much as I love the idea of the Vindicator in my experience it always plays the same roll in every game: Fire magnet, and with its short range it never seems to be effective.

It depends on how much long range fire you have. with a marine army, you have to cover all aspects of battle, with a mix of long and short range weaponry. What weapons are your dreads equipped with? It seems that without the dreads, you have a good mix of long and short range. if most of your dreads are long range, go with the vindicator. If they are short range or melee dreads, go with the predator. Since you have a predator with LC and Heavy bolters, give the other predator the same mix so you have duplicates, and a better chance that you'll have a predator when you need it.

Overall the Predator is more usable tank, but if you want want Vindicators are excellent at being a fire magnet to help Rhinos live longer.

under normal circumstances I would have to vote for a vindicator. For "x" more points you can get the most effective pie plate the marines have available to them. Although for anything below 1000pts I wouldn't touch most tanks...except a predator. So, in conclusion, the best choice would be the vindi.
Cheers:D

A Predator's my first choice as well (I absolutely love that tank!), but since you've already got one, the Vindicator rounds out your armoured forces nicely.

Although a matched pair of Preds would make for a nicely fearsome armoured spearhead, too... Go for either one, really!

I'd go with a Predator. The Vindicator usually ends up as a fire magnet no matter what you do and having a second Predator will make the one that you already have that much more survivable. :)

i suggest Vindicator for one reason. Pretty much everything except the dev squad is made for CC, and hence, rushing. honestly, it'll be better to get the vindicator so you can rush it forward w/ you other troops and get a S10 AP2 pieplate. Its better than S9 AP2 shots. I do realize that it has a short range, but with damn near everything in your army rushing forward, hes gonna have to split his firepower.

I would have to agree to this fulling. The only way I could see this differently though is if you are able to bottle neck the opponent so that they can't go one with without being shot at right away. Over all predator will be much better. In my opinion.

In my experience the two tanks fill different roles. If you are playing defender or against a fast army a Vindicator may have more utility since the armies will close by turn two and give you more opportunities to shoot. However, the Vidicator will be a target for that very reason and will likely blow up before you take your first shot. The Predator has more utility in more game situations and with the new shooting rules if you put on sponson heavy bolters you can shoot all your weapons every turn while you move for around the same points as the one shot behemoth Vidicator cannon. For smaller battles stick with the Predator, as games scale up the Vidicator gains usefulness.

However though in a smaller battle you might not want to take a predator, because it is costly. But let's try not to move this off subject. All in all I think another predator would do you in for good.
Predator- Better for taking out stuff faster without have to wait a long time
Vindicator- Takes out stuff but having to wait till stuff gets close then it can go boom.

The vindicator can also be used as a strategy have the fire drawn to it and pull the squads of whatever around the other side. Something like a flank.;Y

I went with the Vindicator-I couldn't resist the pull of a demolisher cannon, plus the new model looks so good

well predator can be pure anti infantry or pure anti tank
anti tank: lascannon sponsons + autocannon
anti infantry: autocannon + heavy bolters

dont none of you try telling me heavybolters + twin linked lascannon isnt any good because i think it sucks and vindicator is better for an anti infantry AND tank role..
vindicator imo is good against everything, except predator is better at being specialised for anti tank or anti infantry. depends on if you want anti infantry and tank or just one but better, imo i like predator but i would pick a defiler any day if it was a choice but thats for chaos.

Played its first battle vs Eldar turn one missed some rangers hiding in a building his turn 3 wraith guard immobilize and stun the crew and forget about the chaplain and 9 assault marines on the otherside of a builing within charge range turn two power of the machine spirit kicks in and it pops a fire prism turn 3 can't do anything but at the end of the turn he conceded anyway

Nice job. I guess that vindicator did you in for good.
