Dawn of War

List 1

The 793rd Valhallan are often called The Red Tide by those they serve alongside. Led by Colenel Yuri "The Red" Smirnoffski, an unforgiving and utterly devout warrior, they embody the legendary tenacity of the Ice Warriror and have a reputation of getting the job done, no matter the cost. Spurred on by the fiery prayers of the priests, they march steadfastly into battle, knowing that they do their part and happily surrender their lives for the glory of the Imperium, What cannot be overcome by firepower, is drowned in a tide of blood, ground beneath the standard issue boots of the faithful.

Hydra - 70 pts

Total Pts: 2000

Numbers:
150 Conscripts
3 Priests
130 Guardsmen
3 Platoon Commanders
1 Company Commander
9 Lascannons
17 Autocannons
2 Hydras

Tactics:
The three Fearless Conscript squads with Priest (hiding in the back) move towards the midfield, looking to hold/contest objectives and tarpit any nasty units, while screening the heavy guns for as long as possible. As old Yuri The Red often says, "what can't be overcome by firepower will be won through faith and blood".
The Heavy Weapons Squads (all 6) bunker down together with good firelanes, bracketed by the Hydras. Surrounding them in a 2, 4, 4 formation are the Infantry Squads, castled up in a fairly classic denied flank deployment, with the command squads spaced in between to make as much use of Orders as possible. Target priority is pretty simple - biggest threat first and move down from there. Lascannons target heavy vehicles, Autocannons target light-med vehicles and any infantry, Hydras target fliers. Master of Ordnance takes potshots as he sees fit and the Officer of the Fleet plays for reserve denial.

Order wise, Company Commander makes judicious use of Bring It Down! and Fire on My Target!, with Get Back in the Fight used if needed. Platoon Commanders will use Take Aim! initially, and once the lasguns are in range, First Rank, Fire! Second Rank, Fire! before ordering them Forwards, for the Emperor! to keep the pressure up on attacking units/objectives.

2. +2 BS for Warlord, +1 BS for unit.
3. Once per game, Warlord can make an Artillery Bombardment like a Master of Ordnance (unlimited range (Line of Sight needed), Strength 9 AP 3 Large Blast, scatters 3D6", only 2D6" if a Hit is rolled)
4. Friendly units in the Cadian detachment don't take Morale tests due to suffering 25% casualties from shooting if within 12" of Warlord.
5. Commissar Lord has Voice of Command (can give IG orders).
6. Warlord must always issue and accept challenges. Friendly characters in this detachment re-roll failed To Hit and To Wound rolls in a challenge.

I've going VALHALANS here. The sheer mass of lascannons present are going to take down the wyverns and basilisk fairly swiftly, with neither deployment zone appearing to allow them anywhere to gain cover. The three conscript squads can march up the board and try to make a mess of the guard line, just tangling them up as long as possible. The autocannons will also make a mess of the opposing guards squad.

Sorry Cadians!

Task Force Reliquiae

It has the mobility to avoid the tarpits, the opponent's HWS squads are very vulnerable to its artillery and what they lose in sheer numbers is made up by their superior statline. Wow, I don't say that last about Guard very often.

Terrain is really a non-issue. Flak armor is good enough for this matchup. I don't say that very often, either.

I would almost call this a tie except two items: List 1 has more kill points to give up and List 2 has two fliers while List 1 has only Autocannons to counter them. The second item is not a big factor, but it is a factor.

For these simple reasons my vote is for List 2 Task Force Reliquiae.

Just wanted to point out that there are 2 Hydra's in List 1, as well as the squad autocannons

And HWT with lascannons

Valhallans

The hydras will tie up the vendettas, which will snapshot all game long, and I can see that the difference in numbers will make a difference: sure, valhallans have more killpoints, but most of them are very hard to score.

Reliq wins KP big time simply because they're using Wyverns against a Blodguard list. They can have all the Autocannons they want, but it won't matter once they're dead.
