primers like an undercoat isnt it?

and i think varnish is like to seal your models so the paint wont scratch or fade or something

The primer is the first coat you put on the model, to obviously prime the model... make it more seceptable to paints.
It gives it a fairly rough surface that paint easily sticks too, to a sertain degree it keeps the paint in place so that it won't come off in great flakes during the rigours of battle.

Vanish is the extra coat of transparent "paint" you put on the model, almost like a preserver.
It gives the model a tought surface that will resist more touch and use

Hehe...never mistake one for the other.
It once happened to me that i wanted to varnish a finished model, and i accidentally used the primer spray...
