Ok, here's the plan: I'm going to make a daemon prince mostly made of the LOTR Balrog.
But I don't know how the balrog is divided (Arms, wings etc.).
I am thinking about using the Shaggoth's lower body, but i'm not sure…
If you ever want to use your Daemon Prince in a GW store or at a tournament then you will have to restrain yourself from mixing LOTR parts into your figs. Such practices are banned in the above places because Games Workshop does not own the rights to LOTR, Newline Cinema does. I was sad too, I tried to make Rough riders out of the new plastic wargs only to hear this policy after I had started. But, if you dont play in tournaments and GW retail stores then by all means, cut up that Balrog.
They've renegotiated the LotR deal directly with the owners instead of going through New Line (which is why they can now do things outside of the movies etc) so I'm not sure that "rule" exists anymore. However, I'd like to repeat that: I'm not sure
The least you can do is to ask a GW employee if they know what the rules are.
