Hey you guys, so I decided to start by using my Christmas money to buy a Warhammer 40K set to get started. I have never played Warhammer 40K before and I was always interested. I have chosen to use Space Marines. Which set is the best and most efficient starter set for 150 bucks or less that I could buy just to get started out with?

The assault on black reach box was tailor made for you my friend, you'll get a tactical squad, a terminator squad, a captain and a dreadnought in addition to the rulebook and some other gubbins. Another tactical squad and the codex comes to $140, leaving a little left from your budget. Also, try and find someone else who wants to start an ork army, with any luck they'll want the AoBR set too and you can trade for their marines.

I believe this is a double post as I replied to the same thing in the space marines forum...It does seem to be the way of the GW gods to take the Black reach set and run with it though. A Space Marine Codex does not hurt much either and you very well may find that you want something specific like an all bike army where you could buy a couple of ravenwing box sets and field either a Space Marines armies or a Dark Angles army. When it comes to GW's favourite army, the options are endless.

i'm so glad i got AoBR when it was 50 bucks instead of the 75 it is now. GW really did not need to up their prices during this "economic recession"
