Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster here! (Feel like I'm calling into a radio station)

In the process of constructing a Black Templar army. Mostly adding more troops and editing my current troops.

With my new found love of GS and procreate, I'm attempting to make my own converted models. So, for my first GS-fu and converting attempts, we have an Emperor's Champ and a Chaplain. This is mainly because these are the most heavily used in a BT force, so I thought I'd start with them.

The Emperor's champion I thought I'd have praying before a battle. Kneeling, sword and BP out in front of him, beseeching the Emperor to give him strength.

The Chaplain should be heading into battle, and with that, I imagined him leaping off a raised piece of scenery into the enemy. With that, my Chappy is launching himself into the enemy.

Haha, I like the image indicating the "bird". Its actually my attempt at fire. Let me see if I can get you a better pic to indicate that.

Its from the Bretonnian Knights, when I'm working later I'll take a pic of the helmet I used (minus the filing and cutting off of certain parts.

I really like the kneeling guy. Very dramatic, well done. I'm going to assume his right hand will have something in it, or you will take out the gun handle it's holding. Great work on him so far.

The chaplains pose seems a bit unrealistic. Great idea you had going, but it may have gone a bit too far. You got the fluid aspect (which many GW models miss) down pat, just at that angle... I think gravity would play more of a part (but its a game... so w.e). That aside, wikkid.

Really like the marshal, nice pose. Love the actual Black Templar models. Never had the opportunity to work with them myself yet due to lack of funding. But they look really cool.

Can't wait to see these bad boys painted.

cheers,

ps. @redrobot: someone else from Ottawa?!

@darcchipmunk: I'm thinking I'll have the Emp champ hands empty (don't want to busy up the model). I hope it was just a trick of the camera that made it look like he had a gun handle in his hand. If not, well then the files come out.
In regards to the chaplain, you think he's just got too much lean?I might be able to fix that (maybe). I was trying to give the feeling that he was diving forward to crush some xenos.

Thanks for the commentary and stay tuned for the next part of Black Templar Crusading Theatre.

Nicely done. All of them have really cool poses. Some of the look really great.

As for the criticisms. Be careful with the champion. His hood gives him a dark angels sort of feel. Make sure you give him tons of iconography give him that BT feel.

I'm not sold on the banner. It's good, but seems a little chunky. My recommendation would be making greenstuff, compacting it into a very thin layer, cutting out a rectangle and then bending it to give it the wavy feel. Works really well and you can make it very thin.

Aside from that, most of their cloths look awesome. Well, done. You'll soon have a beautifully modelled army.

Now start painting!

cheers,

I will throw my 2 cents here... apart the fact that you have done great poses and you give an overall dramatic effect I would suggest to make another Chapion like this one when fighting enemy characters... Having a kneeling Champion in front of a Chaos Champion would not be too fitting...

And in the Marshal I would recomment to scratch off the backpack a little bit... on the top... you see?
