Erm.....Whats up with all the disgusting ads posted on this site. I dont need to see the inside of someones disgusting mouth while browsing the forum. This is really unnecessary and quite revolting, I suggest you guys change your adds to something a LOT more appropriate.

I think it has a lot to do with them making money from advertising so that we can all enjoy the use of the website + forums for free?
If it was a choice between looking / skipping past a few adverts and using a free forum/website or having to pay a subscription to use it, I think I would take the free option.
Agreed though the adverts could be more topic orientated, but advertising money is advertising money.
Am just glad it is a free forum considering it looks and appears one of the best around.

sorry i dont buy that excuse for 1 second. I visit atleast 10 different forums a day, and none of them have rediculous advertisements spammed all over the place. And ive never heard of paying for a forum? LMAO there would be 2 members on a forum if it required a membership fee. I think something should definatly be done about the ads though.

The hosting costs for this website and forums will be more expensive than you think, especially with the traffic it generates and the webspace required.
I agree with you that the adverts could be more orientated towards wargaming, but 95% of forums (100% of big forums) have advertising.
Just dont look at them (close your eyes and scroll down quickly) lol

I pay $250 per month only for hosting. Without any ads how do you recon I pay that ?
About relevant ads, thats totally impossible. We have been trying to get advertises from the "wargaming world" for years and none of our plans seems to be cheap enough for them. Not even 5000 unique per day for one month and a $15.00 cost is to much for them so I given up that.

Hey, on the bright side. At least its nowhere near as bad when you're logged in because when I first came across LO, there were waaay more ads and it kept breaking up the posts as I tried to read them.

If you don't like the ads, then subscribe. Untill then, i'm afraid you have to deal with it.,
I am aware of the advertisement you are referring top, the teeth one? Yes, I agree it is horrible, but it is a common advertisement, infact I find a number of sites I frequent on have the exact same ad.

Yeah but (hehe) anuses aren't on display everywhere, although mouths are. Given, they aren't open the whole (hehe) time.
I'm not saying I like the mouths (yet, I've not seen that many here), all I'm saying is that it seems that Mafty is having an over-reaction (Caps-Lock? Really?).

Answer is - subscribe - as Blackhat said - these sites COST. AND unless Blackhat and related admins/owners sell to a big bad corporation (Games Workshop)?) they won't see a return on investment which is quite high...
I'm a former mod at B&C and that hasn't gone down the ad route, because the admins there pay a great deal towards the costs and absorb some through merchandising sales etc. But I can completely understand the ads situation, and TBH at least there are no obscene ads (which pay more) or similar

I agree that we can live with the adverts of people and their bad oral hygiene. It isn't like we are having to look at political ranting-promotions, clown porn or something else annoying. We get a good site to crawl all over and I think it is worth it. That it is created and maintained for us to use is a good thing and I thank those who are responsible.
But you could live with seeing one? I couldn't stop laughing when I read this. It also shows us how a thread that starts with a desire to have things clean and pretty shown can degenerate into a chat about anuses.

But hey, I don't know what the ad is for. I notice it, then I think, "Blech," and I look away. But now it seems I have to notice, think "Blech," look away, and then remind myself that at least it's not an anus.

I never really looked at any of them. The ones about getting all muscled make me think that I was on a porn site, I see half naked anything and my mind goes places. However I still ignore this lot. It is best to remind ourselves that it is not an anus. Nor should it be as we may want sparkly white teeth but who wants a sparkly white anus.:\

Though I really shouldn't, something compels me to point out that there are apparently people who do. I remember hearing about anal bleaching being amongst the latest fashion crazes.
I have no idea how it works, or if it was just a hoax or something. I never looked in to it. I should think my reasoning for not doing so is fairly obvious.

However, yeah, it's not cool that they keep telling me not to buy createne and then burst out in apparently desirable muscle. Because I don't want creatine in my body, but I totally want the ungodly stretchmarks when all those slabs of hot muscle go to flabs of floppy age. Thanks.
As for the anal bleaching... aside from Michael Jackson being dead, I think there might still be a niche market for that. I mean, does it come as a spray? because if the choice is between that or bulk toilet paper...

Yeah ok I just want to vent for a second but first I just want to say LO is the best forum on the net for Warhammer. But the growing situation with adds on this site is really annoying me when I first started here all the adds where at the top of the page which meant while I had to look at them every time I went to a new page they were not staring me in the face when I was reading posts and they worked because of ads on LO I’ve gone to total wargammer bitz barn urban dead and 40k radio.
But now there at the side of the screen and several times more prolific I have an eyesight problem so I need to have large font having adds at the side of the screen make it harder for me to read and every time I go on to look for new threads to look at I see massive cavity filled mouths so resently ive started just cheaking my cp page for activity in subscribed threads and then leaving. I understand LO needs cash to run but for me its gone to far

Yes the ads are annoying, yes I will subscribe (not about the ads, more about the love of LO) but what about google's ad service, it connects ads relating to the meta tag and often used words (can you imagine what kind of odd things the terms on this site would summon forth from the darkest depths of the internet?)
