Power weapons stop necron wbb rolls, unless they have a res orb near them.
So if your Wychs have that, then you've got what you want.

Wych weapons do 2 things:

1. Negates the +1A provided to an opponent who carries a 2nd close combat weapon into HtH. That is one heck of an advantage. Reduces by 1 the attacks from those powerfist sargeants, and eliminates the +1A from entire Assault squads!

2. Cuts in half an opponent's weapon skill (rounded up) when calculating hits they make while attacking the wyches. Wych weapons do not affect the opponent's weapon skill for the wyches' attacks.

are the whych weapon upgrade +1 point per model or +2...bc on the gamesworkshop home page codex update it says each wych may be equipped with wych weapons for +2 points per model...but chapter approved says its only +1 point for model...im hoping its the latter...but whats the deal here?

GW wants to sell stuff...therefore the versions that are better are in publications for which you have to pay.

The version with 1pts per model is the latest one.

@Mignight Jade:
Welcome to LO!
You seem to have misunderstood the wych weapon rules, better read them again.

I know that they have the negate 1 attack i was just adding to the second answer... so this is what it should look like:

1: Negates the +1 attacks from people with 2 weps

2: Halves the weapon skill of an opponent with an unmoddified str. of 6+.

Okay?

And remember, it only halves the WS of your opponent (those with unmodified S<6) in attacks that opponent is making against the Wyches, not for attacks the Wyches make against the opponent. This was the result of a strongly worded debate on a Yahoo Dark Eldar site (Commoragh), but the wording "attacks made against the Wyches" seems to clearly indicate a one-way (defensive) WS improvement.

Certainly that doesn't seem logical or fluffy (i.e. if Wyches are such great gladiators, why are their skills improved only for defense and not for offense?). Lord Cru'X

With wych weapons does the effect differ with the different type of weapon?
ie hydraknives only halve the weapon skill.
Or am I just being igorant and not seeing the obvious

that would be the case normally, but since the wych rules were updated this year, there are no longer really specific wych weapons. Now the term "wych weapons" is just a generic gear upgrade. They no longer count as weapons for attacking purposes (any wych with wych weapons is also equipped with a close combat weapon and plinter pistol). You still gotta have at least one model in your army with wych weapons in hand to represent the fact that everyone has wych weapons (its assumed that all the models share the benefits of the wych weapons with each other).

Warhawk101, just so you know
This is a quote from the codex:
"All enemies with an unmodified Strength below 6 halve their WS characteristic"

Note that it says BELOW...

Okay? Settled
