i was reaseaching the penal colony i discovered you could give em all storm bolters and carapace armor. this cost a whoping 630 points but you get 40 shots a turn. since the last chancers have bs 4 the hit 27 out of 40 times. the only person it cant touch are those above 7 steregth. if im being an idiot please tell me. ive never played a game yet.

You're on the right track. You could even give them all a power weapon too, as long as you pay the points to upgrade your Last Chancers to "specialists" first so they can take wargear (and stay under the point limit).

I love Last Chancers, they may just be the most flexible unit at your disposal and they just ooze fluff and coolness.

They come at quite a price though, dont cry when you get assaulted.

So true, GuardinGnome, so true! It's Schaeffer himself that's convinced me that LC have no place in cc, except in hordes with warrior weapons (that is a huge topic though). He's surived so many battles, but he almost never get's even a single wound on anyone in cc. If he can't do it, no guard can.. not individually at least, or without a horse.

yeah they really are the most flexible units. anything that you wished you could do with regular guardsmen you can do wth last chancers. all snipers would be pretty cool too.

All snipers vs things that can be pinned would be interesting, but seems rather expensive to do so.

If such was the case I'd most likely use them to pin down orks/eldar/darkeldar (they're an easier nut to crack armour wise...cardboard and duct tape) and then bomb the hell out of them via bassy...

Making them have such weponry ofcourse gets to be an issue....eg : Oh crap, the ML just took out 3. They may have a 24in assault wepon....but they're still a guardsman. Unless you put caripace armour on them they will wither in the return fire..and even if they don't it's a fair chance they will have missed their shots ^^.

Personally I believe they would be supremely good as units that operate outside of the normal restrictions of your army. If I used them, they would be my annoyance squad. The enemy would want to get them so much that it might buy me some time.

Yeah, I generally use them to add either infiltrating heavy weapon squads, deepstriking demo charges (1 guy and his demo), and usually make a vet type squad by taking Schaeffer and Kage and putting them with a whole bunch of special weapons. Sure I can do the same thing with regular troops.. they just do it better.. I consider them the real guard elites.
