Inquisitor Lord question. Please HELP

The case in question is the WH Inquisitor Lord, for my crusader holy inquisition (WH + DH) army I really want to use the WH Crusader (Henchmen) for obvious coolness reasons.

Games Workshop

The problem is the Inquisitor Lord looks like some Space Western Steam-Punk villain with a pilgrim hat !@!@! Completely out of character with the rest of the inquisition, he doesn't even hold a sword and wears a ghetto leather outfit - he does NOT dress like a leader of the holy inquisition. Come on.

I thought about heavily converting him, but turns out he's metal and I'm not a blacksmith so I'm not even gonna touch that one, also I just hate the entire look of him starting with his ENTIRE outfit. So now I am hoping to use substitute another Inquisition Lord (from the DH) that looks much better than this western cowboy asshole from some space western anime (Cowboy beboop or Outlaw Star?)

However, the retinue is different for that character and doesn't typical have the WH crusader in it. Would it still be legal in tournament for me to use the DH Inquisitor Lord with the WH crusader as his retinue?

Games Workshop

Originally I thought I could use Inquisitor Lord Karamazov Throne of judgement as the HQ unit to use my WH crusaders but turns out he already has his retinue built into him. Gah.

So is there anyway for me to deploy my Crusaders without using the ugly WH inquisitor lord?

First of all, the guy you found is not the regular WH Inquisitor, but a limited edition model you probably won't get your hands on that easily. The normal guy looks a lot like him, but more pilgrim style and less western.

Second: well, DUH! That's how WH inquisitors look like! They work in the shadows of the imperium, seeking the enemy within. They often work undercover and afaik have the highest amount of weird psychopaths out of the three inquisitorial orders. They're normally not going on a battlefield fighting demons and xenos scum in honorable battle with a bunch of elite space marines. (well, sure, sometimes they do that, but normally that's more for the other orders)

Simply using a DH inq is like "Well...that's the wrong model, dude!". Don't get me wrong, I'm all for customized armies and I'm not a strict fighter for WYSIWYG, but this is just a different model from another army.

How about using one of the female WH inquisitors? They are a lot more WH40k-far-future-gothicy than the pilgrimy male inquisitors. I couldn't find them on the GW page right now, but there are three different models afaik, you can see them in the color part of the Codex WH (e.g. p. 56).

That's Inquisitor Lorr, a special limited edition model with rules in WD304 (uk 30th anniversary edition) along with the rules for the zealots.

His points cost is dead on what you'd pay for the same inq normally, same stats, no special rules.

You can use whatever model you want for an inq lord, however you can't mix DH and WH equipment and retinue on the same model.

Of course, so if I just use the DH Inquisitor Lord with all of the rules for JUST the witchhunter inquisitor will it be legal in tournaments? I'm planning to take my army with me to Games Day and I don't want some over-competitive jerk calling me out and disqualifying me from playing. :freaked-out:

I would think it would be perfectly legal in tournaments. It's still an inquisitor and as long as it still has the proper gear. It'll like using a special blood angels model as a normal space marine sergeant or captain or similiar.

Do you actually have that model? Because I personally love that look and have been looking for a decently priced one to go into my necromunda gang.

I think he means he wants to still use a WH inquisitor with his army and retinue, but just represented with a DH inquisitor model on the table - rather than using a DH inquisitor.
Which, as far as I'm concerned seems perfectly reasonable.
When you face someone in a tournament, tell them before the game starts that he is a WH inquisitor, just represetned with a DH inquisitor model. If the person says you're trying to use a DH inquisitor with WH retinue, you can point to your army list that shows that he is a WH inquisitor, which you usually will have submitted to the organizers before the tournament starts.

My WH Inquisitor is represented by a heavily-converted Assault Squad sergeant with an Inferno Pistol (meltagun chopped in half and green-stuffed back together), a multi-melta servitor backpack, an Elvis hairstyle (green stuff), a force staff (servo skull henchman wearing a green-stuffed pimp hat with a feather, shoved through a hole drilled in a powerfist), and a shiny purple lepoard-skin colour scheme. I've used him a few times and people have laughed, smiled, or simply ignored him.

If this monstrosity is allowed then I see no reason why anyone is going to moan if you use an actual model from the GW range. As long as your Inquisitor doesn't have any non-WH wargear it'll be fine, and none of the DH range of Inquisitors carry any gear that WH Inquisitors aren't allowed to take. Plus, the little Gladiator-style Daemonhunters blokie looks almost like a Crusader anyway.
