Hi Iam pretty new to playing 40k my question is how many times can a model fire in the shooting phase for example a model has 3 attacks and is using a heavy 3 weapon does he make just the 3 shots or does he make 9, 3 for each attack on his profile. another example if a model has 4 attacks and is shooting a rapid firing weapon does it make only 1 or 2 shoots depending on range or does he make 4 or 8 shoots. I thought with shooting a models attacks dont matter it's the weapons profile that counts, so a model with 3 attacks using a assult 2 weapon only gets 2 shoots not 6, and a weapon can only be fired once per shotting phase is this right and if so is their a page number in the rule book that can help me?

The attacks on a models profile are only reffered to for close combat.

When making a shooting attack you only reffer to the models BS, all other stats are ignored.

So you would only roll 3 dice when firing a heavy 3 weapons, 2 dice when using an assault 2 weapon and 1/2 dice when firing a rapid fire weapon depending on range.

But bear in mind what type of weapon it is aswell as it will affect how it can be shot.

For example if a model with a heavy weapons moves and wishes to fire his gun he counts as BS 1 but cannot assault, a rapid fire weapon has 1 shot at 24" and 2 at 12" but cannot assault, and an model with an assault weapon can move shoot and assault.
