Congrats to Glen Lamprecht again! Now that guy can paint. Now if only he'd lose the damn bandana's!

And Victoria Lambs Daemon Hunters are great, especially her Inquisitor.
Every year, her entries make me green with envy.

Sebastian Archers Ork Nob is ok, except for the bionic right arm. I don't like that bit, but the rest is awesome. Its good to see someone taking a risk and painting an ork in a different colour.

As for Tim Beaty's Deathwatch team, what a load of bollocks. Terrible conversions, and even worse painting. How the hell did that make the cut?

The duels section is a complete let down. The Imperial Guard vs Traitor had potential, but its way too clean to depict trench warfare.
The pilgrim vs the orc boss is ruined by the awful....thing the orc is riding. What is it? A boar, a bear, a waste of green stuff?

In the Warhammer single minis, large model and regiment catagories, only the Witch Elves impress me. Everything else is painted too clean for my tastes. Although the severed heads are not done well.

As for the staff awards, the Black Templar model has badly positioned legs, the techmarine is standing on a platform that could never support his weight, in the Space Wolves squad, only the model with the axe impresses me, the Steel Cobras dreadnought's dirt is painted way too cleanly, and looks messy, and the base of the Dwarf bolt thrower is painted to a higher standard than the bolt thrower and the crew.
The only model I think is done well is the Wood Elf Noble. The horse is painted to an exceptional standard, and horses are one of the hardest things to paint. The owl could have been better though.

In the Young Bloods catagory, I think it is the Orks that have come out the best. Very well painted. The painters have demonstrated what it is to be Orky. Dark, dirty, ramshackle.
Other than that, the Back Templar is very impressive. The higlights on the black armour are handled well, the gradients in the red sections are believeable, and the free hand banner is good enough for the table and the display case.

I'll skip commenting on the Lord of the Rings junk, cause I can't stand those models.

Definately 2006. I was there drooling at the mini's and slapping myslef for my lack of talent. In the Australian version of WD they released a booklet for it. In the notable entries was Killer Clown's Grey Knights Terminator Chaplin that can be seen in the LO gallery.

It was a bit odd. I have to admit I did not like the trench warfare duel, and I wasn't fussed on Victoria Lamb's entry either. She has produced some fantastic stuff over the years but I thought this was not up to her usual standard.

My favourites were the silver and bronze demon winners from the vehicle category.

These all look so awesome in person - maybe half of them were entered at my local store, where the regional finals were being held.

Luke McFarlane is a ludicrous awesome blender.

And this one:

I was speaking to Peter at the regional judging, apparently he greenstuffed the entire boar. Awesome.

The above one came accross from Tassie, strange that they have to pass our regional finals to make it to the grand final, but I was happy - got to see even more of the mini's.

Not even sure why I bothered entering my tech-explorator/inquisitor guy!

the young bloods entries are supposed to be under 18.

Back to the controversy though - I've been told that the squad leader in Ms Lamb's entry is a war machine miniature and as such, against GD rules. So much for quality judging.
