Tamurkhan Officially Out Of Production

So, today, Forgeworld sold out of 'Tamurkhan, The Throne Of Chaos' the book with the current Chaos Dwarf list as well as the Host Of Chaos and various other special units, special rules, and the Tamurkhan story (which is quite well written).

Forgeworld have said they have no intention of reprinting Tamurkhan and that it's current line of models is in it's final run for the Chaos Dwarfs. So, does this mean the Chaos Dwarfs are being dropped entirely, or maybe as a friend suggested; GW is planning a Chaos Dwarf main line release for End Times or 9th Edition. Who can say?

So, what do you make of this?

I thought they had already said that there would be no more Warhammer Forge releases, while they focus on Horus Heresy. So, model-wise, no real news. I would expect the Chaos Dwarfs to remain available for as long as they seem profitable, but they will probably be dropped at some point if they need new molds or re-tooling or whatever it is. It is rather annoying that it's no longer possible to get the rules for them - I bet that will put many players off starting CDs.

No more releases and "this is our final production run" are very different. What this means is when they sell out, that's it; they'll not be making more. Does that mean they'll never make more ever again? Don't know, but maybe.

So far the book 'Tamurkhan: The Throne Of Chaos' and the models for 'Tamurkhan On Toad Dragon', 'Chaos War Mammoth', and the 'Marienburg Class Land Battle Ship' are all gone and their listings have been removed from the site. More will likely follow I'd imagine, most likely starting with the expensive large models. I think this is a massive shame personally.

Ah, sorry, misread you there. I thought you said the current models were the final run, i.e. just confirming that there were no plans for hobgoblins, K'daii destroyers, etc. But if they're not even going to make more once current stock of warriors runs out then that really does suck. Glad I never bought any, but feel bad for those who are/were building FW armies.

Yeah. I've only got 2000 points worth at the moment. Only one Dreadquake, one Deathshrieker, two Magma Cannon, and a single unit of Fireglaives. Everything else I've been proxy-ing. So if I want to ever have enough to properly do the 3000-5000 point battles I often enjoy I'm going to need to get a backlog of models. I get paid on the 6th. I sincerely hope there's still stuff left by then, but judging how quickly the book (which I thankfully already own), went from limited stock to de-listed you have at most a day or two once it goes limited to buy something.

At least I have enough to field an army at 2000 points. Still, it's not a good sign for Chaos Dwarfs going into 9th edition... my optimistic friend may suggest an official GW like, but I seriously doubt it.

Personally, I'd rather convert CDs anyway but I know a) that not everyone share this preference and b) that it's a real pain for those, like you, who already have half an army.

I think the book was 'fewer than 200' a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully they're not yet that limited.

its sad that the tamurkhan book is gone, but luckly I have the book and I use as much 5th edtion models as possible. And I hope TornadoCreator's friend is right about GW making cd's, but I don't excpect them before 9th edition.
