I have to say Dark Eldar. I have this Dark Eldar friend and you should see the conversions, Imperial Gaurdsmen being torn apart, racks of heads on every vehicle, Warp Beasts munching on SM, that he has on his army. Creepy

I dont know where you get your info from but i dont think its possible for Khorne to be the oldest.
Why you ask?
The Chaos gods are all representation of emotions and longings that drive us (slaanesh being the most obvious). How would you explain that when the galaxy was created, the first emotion was "KILL!".Isn't more likely that it was "CHANGE!" or "EVOLVE!"
Khorne is generally the dominant god, but thats because in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. So obviously Khorne has i field day.

Blood for the Blood God!!!

protocon 'change' and 'evolution' wouldnt be classed as real emotions, besides the first would be hatred, rage and anger which khorne has lots of. but after rage came logic and all that crap so thats why tzeentch comes in second place on the evil god ladder.

I dunno bout that because I asked the GW guys down at the store and they said Tzeentch was oldest, maybe i'll call mail-order, they know everything!

If any one has access to a 2nd edition chaos codex look on page 139 in the stats for doombreed daemon prince of khorne its says "Khorne was the first of the great Chaos gods to awake fully,....." and on page 22 in the Khorne insert it says that "....Khorne is the power of chaos that embodies mindless and absolute violence, destroying everyone and everything within reach, slaying both friend or foe alike" that sounds pretty evil to me. it also says "bloodshed and violence prevade the galaxy so Khorne is the most powerful of chaos gods."

Blood for the Blood God and Skulls for His Throne

Yeah I know I didnt put humanity down because they are the closest to us as players and I was thinking more along the lines of everything else that GW has down as the the "bad guys".

Its *got* to be Necrons.

The Chaos Gods have their own chosen aspects of what they want to do to humanity - ie send them to draw blood from each other, mutate them, infect them or have them die happily...

Tyrannids hunger, and see all the other races as food, and that's pretty evil - but then, its just the way they are.

The grade school teacher... well, that's a close second, but I'd have to say Necron.

Why? They don't want to dominate, they want to exterminate. They don't want to warp people, they want to wipe them out. What's more, the Tyrannids, if they wiped out all life everywhere... would die. The Chaos Gods, if they actually wiped everyone out would grow *much* weaker. The Necrons *want* this to happen, and aren't even alive themselves.

You can even look at the names - Chaos, anarchy, disorder... Tyrannids, Tyrant, domination... Necrons - Necris, Death.

I'd say Dark Eldar are the most Evil...Chaos by definition is not necessarily evil. Vile yes, but Dark Eldar are in my opinion are truly evil. They enjoy the torture, they enjoy the pain they inflict. The C'tan are evil as well but their minds are far too alien to classify as "Evil" who knows what their true motives are...

But I think the Inqusition ranks as one of the most Evil organizations in the 40k universe....

wouldent a realy big EMP distrey the necrons and couldent a nerd hack into them they are computers after all

What... tyranids aren't evil. They're just instinctive. Admitidly, it's a massive and cunning instinctive hive mind. Evil is when someone does it for pleasure and fun (do you ever call bees or ants evil? although tyranids are bigger, they are very similar). Therefore, it's got to be dark eldar.

IMO the nicest race around is the Tau.
Lets just say that the tau want to get peas with a knife </simpsons>

edit: And I voted Khorne. Sure, the dark eldar take pleasure in watching pain, but the khornate are physically addited to it. And they aren't doing it to expand their borders either. They'll start killing each other after a battle.

Okay here is why each one is not as evil as tyranids
Chaos: Are emotions evil? I didn't think so.
Necrons: It's their galaxy get out.
Dark Eldar: It's their choice of how much pain they inflict.

oh screw it Tyranids can be summed up in one sentence

"I hate them not because of what they are or what they may one day become, I hate them because they are incapable of good honest human hatred."- Inquisitor Angmar on Tyranids

It's cause Tyranids are like the Terminator, Cold Unfeeling killers.

Hmm...
It just doesnt seem possible for something that in its own nature is selfdestructive, to be the oldest god.
What about the Old Ones? Undoubtedly the most powerful race that ever existed. Werent they just one big Tzeentch cult? (In theory atleast). They went around, evolving this and that, morphing this into that, nudging that onto this etc.
They clearly changed the ways for many creatures...changed ways..Changer of Ways!!
But if Khorne was the oldest, walking around, slaying everything that came into sight. Wouldnt that just nullify any life at all?
Although...it could be possible for Khorne to be the first, then Tzeentch came into existance because of neccessity. Hmm...

Question: Is the Warp older than the Material world? Or were they born on at the same time?

Erm, i reckon they were both born at the same time (u know, warp + real space) this was at the very start of time. Tzeentch is the oldest of the chaos gods , it says so in codex-chaos.

Hey how come Necrons lead this poll?
How can a bunch of tin cans be rated as the most evil race in 40k?

Either you detonate a nuke in the atmosphere of one of their planets and they will be disabled by the EMP.
Heck with a little knowlege of electronics a citizen of the imperium can make a remote control to say switch them off, flip to the next channel... the Childrens channel, turn down the volume so they don't have to make such a fuss about their whereabouts... therby their guns will be weaker too...

But maybe I have to change my mind from Nurgle to Tzeentch, since as you say he is the oldest chaos god... and he is the lord of all fate, he does see all that is to come... so he knows exactly what evil he can do to the right person at the right place at the right time...
