Striking Scorpions Wraithlord

I bought a wraithlord model about 2 years ago on a whim (this was before a price raise or two). I had read that the spirit stones are put into corresponding bodies, so that a warrior who used to use ranged weaponry would be paired with a long range cannon of some sort. so I just took it to the next step and tried to make a wraithlord look like a striking scorpion. This guy specifically:

So here is my partway finished attempt to replicate it. Nothing is glued yet.

A better look at the mandiblasters:

I know the greenstuff face grill isn't too clean. I might go back over that in the future. Next thing I plan to do is GS the lines over the armor plates, and add dreadlocks.

So any questions, comments, or degradations? Suggestions on future painting (I have never painted that bright of a green before), and pose concerts would be nice. Thank you for reading this.

Yes, I said I would be doing that next along with detailing the armor plates. The 'locks shouldn't be too hard, it's just the lined plates I'm worried about. Thanks for the rep.

Kororizon: I would indeed like my model to look good, though I do hope it looks good because the model is well done, and not only rely on crazy good painting skills.

Glad to know someone is following Rodian.

Yes, perhaps they do need to be more spread out. The hip and ankle joints are not glued so I shall play around with them until I find the right position. I'm not sure how I'm going to add armor plates. I am hoping that GSing the horizontal waves might make it look fatter when painted.

It has knees! It is now a functioning member of eldar society. I also started putting the waves on the shin armor.

I also decided to make the head plated. I'm not sure how well the picture came out, but it should look better next update time when I've had time to sand it smooth and use a brighter light. I have the support frame for the dreadlocks lying around somewhere, so I should have that thoroughly started by next update as well.

Questions, comments, suggestions, and degradations please as always.

Good to know I have a follower Jim who is Happy.

Started the dreads, though it will take a while to fully bulk them out. once I get the bottom half done I'll add a hair-tie and then connect the 'locks to the back of the head. Tonight I believe I shall clean up the knees and add a few details to the legs and shoulders.

Survey says... Wraithsword, shuriken cannon, and mandiblaster flamers.

My progress will be measured in millimeters. At least I provide pictures to entertain the children.

The camera seems to dislike flat surfaces. The band on the leg is flat with squared edges, and the shoulder lines are round and smooth.

Not pictured: I covered up the current face grille. I can't seem to get the lines symmetrical. Perhaps I'll just carve them out?

At least someone thinks of the children. Unlike Kuffy. Well he "entertains" the children, but more in a totally not cool-way.

They look fine to me. Keep it up!

Oh shiny! Looks like you've got a great plan going on here and it's coming along nicely. Will be looking forward to how the dreadlocks turn out as I feel they'll really bring out the striking scorpion feel of the 'lord. Keep us updated, I reckon this'll look rather awesome when it's done =).

I think this is good. Striking scorpion Wraithlords do seem to be the way to go. Reppy for you.

I think that the head is good with the plates like Karandras, except for the front part. It seems a bit too mushy or organic looking and I'm not sure what it is meant to have in relation to Striking Scorpions. I think dig it out and re-do it or replace it with a new feature like an insecty dome. Your work on the sword is good.

Well I've hit a slight snag. I was enjoying some cookies dunked in milk, when a bump of the table caused something to fall into the glass. After much searching, I found the GS Dreadlocks at the bottom of the glass. That has been cleaned, but for the life of me I can't find the head. I'm pretty positive I didn't drink it, but the bump sent it flying in some unknown direction. Hopefully I find it soon.

If I can't find it, I guess I'll just get a head start on making the revenant titan.

Yum, cookies. I like cookies.

Pretty positive, but not 100% positive. You may be in for some interesting times in your lower areas.:poop:

This happens to me sometimes, and I hate it when that happens, something jumps off the table and vanishes. You search and search in every possible place according to the natural laws of the universe the thing could of gone but it is nowhere to be found! Check what you were sitting on, I've found bits that have gone walkies in my chair more than once.:j

Ah good old missing parts after knocking. I've lost many a mini or component after my cats have knocked it flying from my table after jumping up there to see me. Hope you find it though, you had a pretty nice sculpt going on there and I don't think a headless Wraithlord would be particularly useful on the battleground :p.

But hey, at least you have cookies!

Good times! I found the head (hidden in a piled up poncho), and I also found me good exacto. Glad I found that second one too, otherwise I would have been quite unhappy come next winter when I put that boot on.

----edit-----

and the cookies were made of elderly ass. They were too dry, dissolved in milk if left in for more than 10 seconds, and had little to no taste.
