If you buy miniatures on Ebay or any where else second hand, which would you pay more for a striped figure ready to be painted or a reasonably well painted figure?
Here are a couple of images to give you an idea of the standard.

Stripped for sure or unpainted for the win - I vastly prefer going into battle with models I've painted - even if they quality is not as good as some I could pay for, I like the feeling that they are MY army, not someone else's.

It depends on the mini and the paintjob... Sometimes I will pay, and have done, sometimes I wouldn't. :?

Well I'm not sure if I should really post this, but I prefer to support my local store there's so few of us around here that I only go online for models that my store can not get.

Preferably: Unpainted. Ever.

Next best: stripped. I put this on a different line as sometimes, some paint would still be present in the hard to access cracks, and also some detail can be lost in the process (although not likely).

Never: Painted. I would never pay money for a painted miniature. If its good, I'd like to look at it maybe, but I would have no satisfaction in owning it, as I did not paint it myself.

It if is not good, I would just want to strip it bare, and I cannot ever be bothered doing that properly. So, only ever unpainted for me!

P.S The exception to this would be rare and no longer in production miniatures, in which case it is worth the extra trouble...

I guess i'm saying I would pay much less for the two example minis you have shown than if they were unpainted, and somewhere in between if they had been stripped...

id rather have the model not painted or striped because i have a theme in my army like muddy clothing or things like that, and even having a few models in the army that are not painted with the them damages the overall look of the army.

It truely doesnt matter...the only reason that i buy the painted stuff, is that it does usually go for cheap, and i have no problem stripping or what not. Also, Stuff on sprues are amazing... i usually will bid more on that, because then you get the most fun part of all...assembly (im not joking either)

How do u strip models of paint?
Like Pickle said, but please be very careful when you do it, the Breakfluid for example is extremely dangerous, you don't want it on your skin, in your eyes or anywhere near anything that is not yours... better ask your parents about giving you a helping hand if you intend to use it. ANd make sure you read the threads about it before you start.
Just go to the painting board and make a search- you'll find inumerous threads on the topic.

Stripped hands down....a model is great painted. But the best painted by you, good or bad. Its your theme your model your army your whatever. I respect other people who can paint well.....but I also know I'm a good painter and do my own thing. STRIPPED!

Yeah, unpainted is the way to go for me too. Painted models are fine, but then they ten to end up not matching your army, or not having a color scheme you like. And like socalghia said, if you paint it, you've painted it. You take a certain amount of pride in models you paint, even if they are garish.

I have suckally painted tact squads that I am proud to say I painted them!

I have a few nids that my dad has painted, and wait, can't tell the difference between them....

I prefer painting them myself, only exception is with rare and unatainable minies (zoats, old fex's... etc.) then I'd bring in the nail polish remover (since they are usually metal)

I've bought stuff second-hand, and here's my take:

I pay the most for completely unassembled and unpainted models. Almost like buying from the store, except you get them cheaper.

I pay a decent price for assembled and unpainted/stripped models, especially if I can get any extra parts/sprues with them.

I pay the least for painted models, no matter the standard. I'll strip them and convert&repaint them to fit into my existing swarm and as such I definitely am not paying extra for paintwork, no matter how excellent it might be.
